Synchronization error (protocolError)

Anyone had this error pop up every 10 mins? Email all working fine but getting this operations error message evry 10 mins is annoying, thanks

I have it too, very annoying.

With which email provider is this? Can you post the error here please.

Anyone have an update or can point me in the right direction?  Getting this same error with Gmail account, although all seem to be working correctly.  Very annoying.

Without seeing the error message, it is difficult to say what is the cause. But if the settings are correct, and everything is working despite getting the error messages, some users would advise to simply disable the error pop-ups. I am more inclined to find a fix, but you can disable the error messages in Menu > Tools > Settings > General > Operations Window.

To check your settings, go to Menu > Tools > Accounts and make sure you have one of the following port and security policy combinations.

SMTP
Port 587 = Force usage of SSL/TLS
Port 25 = Use SSL/TLS if available
Port 465 = Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)

IMAP
Port 993 = Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
Port 143 = Use SSL/TLS if available

POP3
Port 995 = Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)
Port 110 = Use SSL/TLS if available

These are the correct combinations of port and security policy. The underlined ones are the best option for security if your server supports them. SMTP port 465 was reassigned and should no longer be used for SMTP, though many mail providers still recommend and use it.

Thanks for the quick response.  I don’t want to turn off alerts either.  All the settings are correct.  Here is the error:

12:20:38 PM   MailClient.Storage.Application.OperationException: Synchronization error (ProtocolError)
12:20:38 PM    at MailClient.Protocols.AirSync.AirSyncItemSynchronizer2.Synchronize(IItemSynchronizeContext1 synchronizeContext, Folder folder, CancellationToken cancellationToken)
12:20:38 PM    at MailClient.Protocols.Common.ItemSynchronizer`2.<>c__DisplayClass32_0.b__1(WorkerStatus status, CancellationToken cancellationToken)
12:20:38 PM at MailClient.Protocols.AirSync.AirSyncGenericCommand.Execute(WorkerStatus status)
12:20:38 PM at MailClient.Commands.Command.Process(WorkerStatus status)

Looking this more closely, may not be my Gmail account, but my outlook.com account with “airsync”…any help on that?

Yes, definitely the Outlook.com account. My personal preference with that provider is to setup the account as Exchange. EWS is much more reliable than AirSync, and you get the full features of the Exchange server.

To setup the account as Exchange, go to Menu > Tools > Accounts, and add a new account.Choose Mail > Exchange.
