I have the free/trial account and am syncing both a Google Workspace and Google Gmail account. I have my sync time period set at a year. That setting is being honored for the Workspace account, but not for the Gmail account (which is only going back to Dec. 2 (as of this Dec. 29), with 305 total email headers shown. I did change the time sync period setting for both accounts, and there is no limit on IMAP syncing when I go to my Gmail account on the web. Indeed, I am also running New Outlook with both accounts (could that be the problem, although I’ve set eM Client as the default?) and it is syncing both accounts for all time.
I should also add that I deleted the Gmail account from eM Client and then re-added it, and still no luck – only syncing approximately the past month.

If they are both setup exactly the same in eM Client then could be some setting possibly not quite right in your Gmail account online. See my Gmail online example screenshot settings end of post.

It doesn’t normally matter that you have Outlook or any other mailer also accessing your Gmail account at the same time with an IMAP setup.
For a test, i would set your Gmail account to “All Time” in eM Client rather than 1 year and see if it then receives email prior to Dec 2 as per my own Gmail account settings below.
Also “dbl-check all the other screenshot settings below are the same” as in my examples.
Apart from that, you might possibly be not seeing all messages, “if you have the default Gmail Inbox Categories enabled” in your Gmail account setup when you first setup eM Client.
See my Post link below on Categories in eM Client V10 as your missing previous dated emails could be there, “but just in another Inbox Category Tab” like Promotions, or Social or Updates etc.
Thank you for the thorough reply, but I’ve already gone through (before posting) all of the steps outlined with no success. But see below re the Gmail web settings.
I originally started with “all time” selected in eM Client and then changed to 1 year in the hope that might at least get me that much. Going back to “all time”, after your reply, didn’t affect anything.
I don’t think it matters, but I did have “automatically download for ofline use” ticked – but unticking it and restarting eM Client also had no effect.
I don’t use the Categories sorting in eM Client (plus I have ten+ years of emails)
I did go to my Gmail settings previously and kept the folder size limit at 2000. I didn’t change this previously because (a) eM Client was only showing 305 headers downloaded for Gmail and (b) new Outlook was syncing a full 2000 for Gmail – and doing so took me back to May 2024. Plus, previously applying the same 2000 limit for the Workspace account gave me 1,279 headers in that account on eM Client, going back to Feb. 2024.
However, I went back to Gmail settings after your reply and took off any folder limits just to see what would happen (I don’t really want to sync everything back forever) and, indeed, eM Client did respond to this change. I didn’t let it sync everything because, frankly I don’t want that. So I closed out eM Client and then changed the setting to a Folder limit in Gmail settings of 10,000. The result? The Gmail account in em Client download 1484 headers and took me back to Sept. 2023. Which is good enough. The Workspace account, also expanded to a 10,000 limit, ended up downloading 1445 headers, going back to 1.1.24, also good enough.
Not sure I get the disconnect between the Gmail specified limit and what eM Client actually does, but this was an adequate workaround. Thanks for making me rethink the Gmail folder limit setting.
