Strato server error won't set up imap settings

I have set up btinternet account without problem. However when I try and set up a Strato email address it does not like the settings. It says my credentials were rejected. I am using imap with port 993 and smtp 465. Why does it not setup the account?

on the diagnostics it just says sever not responding… On smtp I have tried changing the @ sign to a % sign with no success.
I assume youi still use ports 993 and 465 for this fix?

I don’t use Strato though I have a friend who does, when asked he sent
me the following if it helps…

Incoming Server - IMAP

Server: imap.strato.de
Port: 993
Security: SSL/TLS
Username: Your full email address
Password: Your password

Outgoing Server - SMTP

Server: smtp.strato.de
Port: 465
Security: SSL/TLS
Username: Your full email address
Password: Your password
