Start typing to create event/new shortcuts don't work well

Hi

I find the functionality where whenever you are in the Calendar view, if you start typing, a new event will be created, to be really annoying and not desirable, and being able to turn it off would be really helpful. It’s not something I can easily override in PowerToys or AHK. However, I can tolerate it and understand that it could be complex to disable.

So assuming that’s true (and I couldn’t find a related setting in settings), what I’m really here for is to say that the new calendar shortcuts don’t work very well as a result of this functionality. Since “D” is supposed to take you to Today, you would expect pressing that key on the calendar view would take you to today, but instead it creates a new event. If I hit ctrl+2 and then D, it makes a new event. If I hit ctrl+2 and then Esc and then D, it still creates a new event. Even clicking on the side doesn’t fix it. The only way I can get D and PgUp PgDn etc to actually work on the calendar view is to click in the small bar at the top of the view.

Is there anything I can do to ameliorate this and be able to smoothly navigate the calendar without my mouse? Or am I stuck clicking every time I want to use a hotkey?

Thanks!
Adora
