"Spellcheck" Issue

I’m having a little problem with Spellcheck.
I’m 77 years old, and my touch-typing suffers from my arthritic fingers trying to do what they used to do on the keyboard.
My biggest issue is when I type the word ‘was’, which usually comes out as ‘ws’, and I have to add the ‘a’ when I proofread, which I do religiously, anyway, even after using ‘spellcheck’.
My questions is: is there someplace I can go in and add this ‘ws’ to show up when I do the spellcheck so I can just fix it that way?
In advance, many thanks.

I just tried creating an email with ‘ws’ in the text. eMC red-underlined ‘ws’ and when it was right-clicked it did present "was’ as one of the suggested corrections.

I am using:
Windows 10
eM Client version: 8.2.1509
Language: English
Spell-Check settings:

How does your setup compare?

@Bob18

I am guessing you want to automatically tell eM Client to always change ws to was when its mispelt ? There is no option i am aware of to do that if that is what you are asking.

The auto spell checker will always prompt you to correct if it detects an unknown word like ws.

The only thing you can do is “Disable the auto spell check option” as in @sunriseal example screenshot above, so you then manually fix any errors.

Hi!
Thank you for the quick replies!
Yes, I have spell-check set up properly.
Here’s what I’m thinking…
I might have ‘added’ the ‘ws’ to the dictionary in error at some time in the past, so it’s sitting in the list of acceptable spellings.
What I’m looking to do is access that dictionary and remove the ‘ws’ so it will then be seen as a misspelling of ‘was’, and I can grab it that way.

@Bob18

Having never done this before, therefore use caution/backup/make copy, I believe you will find the custom dictionary HERE:
C:\Users\al\AppData\Roaming\eM Client\en-US.custdic

It appears to be editable… use your editor or “notepad” …

Let us know how things go or if you need more help.

Thanks, sunriseal!

I did find that file and opened it with my EditPad Pro 8 program, and yes, the “ws” was in the list there.

I copied that file into a separate new folder, then removed the ws from the list and typed the following line:

I ws going to try this but I ws not convinced that it ws going work.

Nope, it didn’t find the errors, and even after I typed in the ‘was’ into the ‘Replace with’ line, it didn’t replace it.

Thank you for the effort!

@Bob18

Strange…

To ensure I understand correctly, you now have a custom dictionary that does NOT contain “ws”. When you enter “I ws going to try this but I ws not convinced that it ws going work.” eMC does not immediately red underline “ws” 3 times? In addition you have the settings for Spell-Checker checked to auto-check?

I have no problem with auto spec check or manual spell check.

Have you tried to restart eMC?

If you have restarted eMC then I would suggest:
Uninstall eMC (do NOT delete database), reinstall with the current version (8.2.1509) of eMC from here

You are correct!
…correct, that is, until I took your advice a RESTARTED eM Client so it would work! headbang-01
Thank you!
Stay safe, and be well!
