Specific folders won't sync

Hi folks,

I switched from Thunderbird to Mailspring, and now to eM Client (since Mailspring has no Calendar function).
In general, it works, though some folders don’t want to be synced (ever, though others did - after a dozen times of refreshing and clicking on those folders)!

And what do the three dots (cf screen shot attached) mean?

Are all folders (and subfolders) supposed to be synced at once (if I ask for a refresh manually [F5/clicking Refresh]) or is the idea really clicking on each folder and then refresh?

How come other folders are synced, though?

The dots mean the folder has new content, but it has not yet synced. It should sync immediately when you click on it.

The error says that folder is not syncing because connection to the server was lost. Most likely a server issue but could be the connection. As a test, can you completely disable any anti-virus, firewall, proxy or VPN, then try again. Sometimes even restarting your router may resolve this.

But, why should the anti-virus, router or whichever of the external soft- or hardware inhibit the synchronization for some, but not all folders?
