Sorting emails to folders as they arrive

I need to divide the incoming mail by the various groups they come from otherwise I shall lose control of my mail. Microsoft allowed a automatic sort by setting up rules for the selection so on ehadan organised set of mail.
Equally one could by this locate mail from those where you might have a financail relationship and manage your affairs.
