Some rules not running on first startup since upgraded to V.10

I have some rules that run against incoming emails. Since I upgraded from Version 9 to Version 10.0.3266 at the weekend not all the rules are running when I first load eM Client in the morning. I can run the rules manually and they work fine, and thereafter they run as they should throughout the rest of the day.

Has anyone else experienced a problem like this since upgrading?

When I manually ran one of my rules earlier I got an SQL error and when the software was downloading new emails it too got the same SQL errors:

Yes, I also created a similar topic a few hours ago

You might want to try doing a SQLite database repair and see if maybe that will fix your issue:

(To repair the eM Client database manually for Windows)
Close eM Client and then open a Windows Command Prompt. Not a Powershell, Then Paste and run the following command:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client\MailClient.exe” /dbrepair

(To repair the eM Client database manually for Mac)
Close eM Client and then “open the Terminal app via either Launchpad or Utilities” on the Mac. Then Paste and run the following command:
/Applications/eM\ Client.app/Contents/MacOS/eM\ Client /dbrepair

I’ve given that a go. The repair worked fine but it made no difference - the rules for received emails still don’t run on the initial update, but they do run correctly against subsequent received emails.

I experience the same. Sometimes they run sometimes they don’t and I have to run them manually. It’s a bit annoying. I don’t recognize any specific circumstances under which the rules don’t execute. Seems random to me.

I have found a pattern. When I first open eMClient, the rules do not work and all mail goes to the Inbox. If I leave the app open, as it retrieves new emails, the rules are applied. This is my experience with both V10.0.3266.0 released 7/18 and V10.0.3351.0 released 7/26.

Installed the latest 10.0.3351 (1554a45) build but the issue with the rules is not yet fixed!

I’m seeing the same behavior. The messages that the rules apply to are being sorted into the “Other” category.

Re: Rules not automatically working on startup and only working when left open or when you manually run them in V10.0.3266 or V10.0.3351.

Try the latest V10.0.3447 update via the release history page and see then if that fixes it. Close eM Client before updating. Also make a backup before updating via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason.

Note: You can see when the backup is complete in Show Operations via clicking the drop-down on the right of Refresh top left.

Now if the above latest V10.0.3447 update still doesn’t fix the issue, update in this thread if you are using POP accounts or if you are using IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud accounts.

Also update “if the rules that aren’t automatically working on startup” are in the normal “Menu / Rules” location (like V9), or if they are rules only listed in the blacklist via the new V10 “Menu / Settings / Blacklist” location.

Hello,

For me the latest .3447 did not fix the issue with the Rules, I am using POP accounts, rules appears on the normal Menu->Rules location

Regards

I’ve upgraded to 3447 and it hasn’t sorted the problem.

All of my accounts are POP3. All the rules are under Menu / Rules.

Hi, we have a fix for this issue prepared for the next update (not the current 10.0.3447 unfortunately) but there is a workaround that can resolve the bug without an update.

Go to Menu>Accounts
Open the POP or IMAP tab of the affected account.
Change any detail in this tab - for example the number of days the messages should be kept on the server or the sync options etc. (You can change this back later of course)
Save this change.
Restart eM Client.
Now the rules should be applied correctly and you can reverse any settings change you made previously.

Editing the account settings has worked. Thank you.

In this version (not yet publicly available) this issue should be fixed:

To test that I will have to disable some accounts and recreate them. I’ll let you know how I get on.

Edit:

I’ve just realised that probably won’t prove anything as the rules will probably run okay anyway with a new account as they do for a modified account.

Downloaded & tested. Result ZERO.
