I use TBird on win11 and also sometimes on Linux.
I do this by going to Account settings/Local folder and pointing either one to a folder on a different partition. So this way each use of TBird shows a correct current mail list.
I cannot figure out how to do that on eM Client. There is no choice of where to put it so I assume it puts it in C:/users/kris/somewhere, where I cannot readily access it from another opsys.
You canât split the mail database location between accounts if that is what you are trying to do. It must be kept all together for all accounts on whatever drive you specify.
You can change the database storage location which holds all your mail accounts, contacts etc via going to âMenu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Storageâ.
Donât try to use the storage database location shared directly between computers like on a LAN or you will risk database corruption as itâs not designed to do that.
Great! No need to âsplitâ the database, just put the whole thing on another partition, which, following your instructions, I have now done and saved.
Now, how do I import ALL the files and folders from TBird? (so that it will put all that in the new folder).
Note: I want eM Client to be a POP reader of gmail, NOT to own and modify gmail or my google account!!! Thatâs all TBird is for me - a simple POP client.
found this: âFor example, Microsoft and Google hosted accounts canât be setup as POP3 in eM Client.â If this is true I have no interest in em client.

If you have Thunderbird on the same computer go to âMenu / File / Importâ and choose Thunderbird on the import screen and follow the wizard.
Or alternatively you can export Thunderbird mail into .EML message files, and then import those messages into eM Client via âMenu / File / Importâ and chose Email (.eml).
You can also import .PST archive mail store into V10 via âMenu / Data filesâ. There is many Thunderbird to PST convertors online in Google.

EM Client only currently supports Gmail IMAP setups âas per Google changes some years agoâ with Legacy POP Accounts as per the eM Client blog link further down this post.
So to use Gmail with eM Client, you need to setup your account using the âAutomatic account wizardâ at the top of âMenu / Accountsâ which will then setup an IMAP Gmail account using an OAuth token connection. See eM Client documentation for setting up a new account via this link below.
âSetup new accountâ
Microsoft and Google hosted accounts canât be setup as POP3 in eM Client.â If this is true I have no interest in em client.
Microsoft also no longer work with legacy POP accounts due to Microsoft changes some years ago that now requires an OAuth2 passwordless token login that only works with an IMAP / Exchange or Office 365 setup as per the eM Client Blog link below.
âMicrosoft disables Basic authentication for all accountsâ
There is a Sleekplan suggestion to allow POP in Gmail which you can vote for below.
Thanks but no thanks. I just foolishly assumed that any email client would support POP3. I will look elsewhere.
