I am brand new to eM Client after deciding to switch from Mailbird. After configuring emclient receiving email works fine but I am unable to send any email. I use verizon and copied the SMTP address (smtp.verizon.net) and port (465) over from Mailbird where it was working perfectly. I went to the diagnostics tab and it indicates server not responding. Testing the connection in Mailbird using the exact same information Mailbird reports “SMTP Connection Success”. When I use the fix button in emclient on the diagnostics tab it indicates fixing failed. Given that I have no trouble with SMTP using Mailbird it appears there is a software glitch within emclient. Do you have a solution?
Hello Mike, not completely sure how you’ve setup the account, did you use the automatic setup in eM Client.
Try to setting up the account using the automatic setup just by using your email address and password, eM Client should auto-detect the proper account settings from the server. If not, are you using any security software on your computer that may have disabled the application’s ability to connect to the server?
Are you seeing any errors when synchronizing the account?
Thank you,
Paul, the account was set up automatically but still did not function. I even deleted the account and set it up again. Tried unchecking “Server requires authorization” as someone else did still no success. I also set up emclient on a neighbor’s computer and they also are unable to send messages. After spending several hours trying to figure out the problem I finally got the program working. The Solution - Under the SMTP tab instead of the default “Use SSL/TLS if available” I selected “Use SSL/TLS on special port (Legacy)” using port 465 making certain authorization is enabled and now able to send messages.
Hi! I also have this problem! I can download the e-mails from aol.com, but I cannot sent any from my eM Client which I installed recently. Now I tried this hint with Special port in SMTP tab, but still doesn ́t work.
THe error message which it gives to me is “The receiver of the message was rejected by the server.”
Can You help me with some advice? Thanks!
Hello Mike, the server settings can’t be adjusted to any settings, please make sure you’re using the recommended server settings for your mail server with the account.
“Server requires authentication” should be checked for most servers, however again, check this with your mail service vendor in order to find the recommended setup.
Are you seeing any security software on your computer?
Hello Jitka, this seems like a server issue, can you please create some additional logging data for us, navigate to Tools > Settings > Advanced and enable SMTP logging for the problematic account, save the settings and replicate the issue.
Once the error reoccurs, please make a screenshot of the error and go back to the advanced settings window to submit the logs to us. Use the “send logs” button and submit the data to my email, [email protected] with a reference link to this forum topic.
Also please include the screenshot you’ve created.
Thank you,
Paul, I use Verizon and the correct settings for SMTP are smtp.verizon.net and port 465. Emclient automatically sets the Verizon SMTP as outgoing.verizon.net using port 25 which is incorrect. I almost gave up on Emclient because it would not configure properly. I maintain something is wrong with the automatic configuration. I had previously been using Mailbird and it had no problem configuring. I also tried a program called Inky when I was about to give up on emclient and Inky also had no trouble configuring correctly. It was only when I selected “Use SSL/TLS on special port (Legacy)” using port 465 and smtp.verizon.net did emclient start to send emails. I am receiving no error messages and the program seems to be finally functioning correctly.
Hello Mike, eM Client sets up your account based on the autodiscover preferences on your mail server, if the server doesn’t include recommended settings for autodiscover eM Client won’t be able to setup the account properly. This can also be caused by security software installed on your computer, if you’re using any antivirus/firewall application, the connection to the server using the recommended port may have been blocked, thus eM Client can’t setup the connection on this port and tries to use unsecure port.
Glad you were able to setup the account and that you’re able to send and receive, please make sure to let us know if you come across any other issues or questions about the application, we’ll be happy to help.
