SMTP port setting, per ISP requirements, fails

eM Client works great! … has for 2years+, except that - about the end of Nov/1st of Dec it started hicupping, I have a reply in the outgoing mailbox that’s not going anywhere and now eMail Client displays “failed” on the Diagnostics - SMTP Setting tab.

My ISP is Spectrum/Charter and they say use these settings:

  • Username: Your full Spectrum email address
  • Password: Your Spectrum email password
  • SSL: On
  • Protocol: IMAP
  • Incoming Server Port: 993
  • Outgoing Server Port: 587 (SMTP?)
  • Requires Authentication: Yes, or checked

But using SMTP: Port = 587 fails, and selecting “fix” in the diagnostics tab runs thru a list of possibilities starting with “mail.brighthouse.com” (as specified by Spectrum) does not yield a solution.

Do I have to quit using eM Client?

Fixed it myself.
Thank you Gary!
My ISP, Spectrum/Charter, was NO HELP whatsoever. I was using Port = “587 Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)” and Outgoing kept failing (Incoming no problem) changing to your phrasing “Port 587 = Force usage of SSL/TLS” fix it. Maybe I’m stupid but I thought the verbiage was just a comment, apparently not.
