For Hotmail SMTP account, i use the following settings.
eM Client V10.3-10.4
smtp-mail.outlook.com
Port 587
Security Policy "Use STARTTLS (Always)”
eM Client V6 - V10.2
smtp-mail.outlook.com
Port 587
Force usage of SSL/TLS
I use same setup.
the strange thing, it works some time, and many time does not.
So you are using the Server address smtp-mail.outlook.com with the security policies as in my examples above or V9 or V10, then either you have something “possibly running resident randomly interferring” or there “there could be some physical connection issue” going to the smtp server from your computer or isp, or there might be possibly a Microsoft smtp hotmail server issue randomly happening.
So first if you have any eg: optionally installed firewall / security programs or optionally installed antivirus programs or vpn’s “other than what comes default with your os”, then try completely disabling those to test incase of any interference.
If you have no optionally installed programs like that or you do but disabling makes no difference, then suggest to go to “Menu / Accounts” and try removing and re-adding your Hotmail account via the automatic account wizard and see if that fixes it incase its some corruption in your account.
If you do try removing and re-adding your account, make a backup first via “Menu / Backup” incase you need to restore for any reason. You can see when thats completed in Show Operations via the dropdown on the right of Refresh.
Apart from that make sure you have done all your Win 10/11 Mac OS latest updates incase you have an OS issue and need updating.
Also if you haven’t already tried, suggest to “shutdown your computer and modem / router for eg: 2 mins” and then turn back on incase its some sort of eg: IP / DNS problem causing it.
Lastly if shutting down your computer and powering off your modem / router makes no differance, then might be an actual server issue at the Hotmail end from wherever you connect to.
I totally uinstalled the app, deleted DB, installed again.
seems working for now.
I need to watch for some time.
thx for the advice.
fault is back.
