I really like eM Client — it’s been my favorite email client for many years.
One “issue” I still notice, though, is that scrolling inside emails isn’t smooth.
It feels jittery, and the scroll rate is very low.
I know this might not be noticeable to most people, but as a tech artist it’s very obvious and hard to ignore.
Even the old Windows Live Mail client scrolled smoothly, similarly to any browser nowdays..
I opened a ticket about this back in version 8, but the problem still seems to be present. Is smoother scrolling something that can be improved, or is it a limitation of the current message viewer?
I can rule out GPU drivers or system configuration..
I work in PC optimization and other PCs I install this software on show the exact same issue.
It’s much easier to notice on monitors with refresh rates above 60 Hz.
If you search anything on Google in a modern browser and scroll by clicking the middle mouse button, you get smooth motion that matches your monitor’s refresh rate. Browsers sync their scrolling animations through the Windows compositor, so frame pacing stays consistent — assuming your GPU drivers, registry settings, and browser flags are all normal.
eM Client’s viewer doesn’t maintain that same consistency. The stutter comes from irregular frame pacing, not from my hardware or drivers.
First I agree with @cyberzork and have never experienced
the issues you describe.
I have looked at the examples you provide, however, as I was
expecting videos of the issue taken from one or more of your
computers the examples you’ve provided are of no relevance
other than to demonstrate with and without a stutter.

We use Chromium, the same rendering core as Google Chrome. However we use a bit older version of Chromium (CEF), that really rarely might have issues on some hw configurations. Good news is that with the upcoming version 11, we’ll use the most recent version of Chromium which should resolve all such glitches.
I’m finding that scrolling in the mail list gets wonky and slow after a while. If I kill and relaunch eM Client, the problem is gone. This could be a buffering problem on scroll (buffering what’s off screen at the time and needs to be scrolled next).
