Slow loading on update 8

Good morning.
When will there be a patch or another update to cure the excessive slowness with the latest update. Great program but every time there is an update there seem to be issues as well.!!

I personally don’t have slow loading issues with the latest V8 release builds that is noticeable.

How long does eM Client take to load ? Also are you using a Mechanical or SSD Drive ? Also do you have Windows or Mac ? What spec hardware and os do you have ?

The latest release versions for Windows & Mac are via Release History | eM Client

Up to 3 minutes to open the program and very slow on the search say where I want to find an earlier mail can take up to 2 minutes to find something that may only be 2 weeks old. Using a mechanical drive and Windows 10 and it is kept up to date. The difference between this update and the previous one in speed was immediately noticeable.

Hi @robinjoffe

I agree with comments by @cyberzork.
You probably notice a difference in performance with an upgrade to SSD, however, other factors that will affect the performance are your processor & RAM.

You could also run some or all of these:

Ccleaner: (free version is fine)

Wise Registry Cleaner: (free version is fine)

And in Win10:
Disk Cleanup followed by Defragment & Optimizer (You’ll find both in Administrative Tools)

Yes agree with @skybat that changing to an SSD drive like a eg: Samsung EVO ,or M2 NVME type normally will make alot of difference as well as the amount of Ram and Processor speed etc you have.

However (with your current hardware setup) if you say the previous version of eM Client before updating was quicker, then you can always download the previous versions via the release history page and install that as a test. https://www.emclient.com/release-history

To install and older release for a test, you can do that two ways. (eM Client Windows example)

1). If you have been making backups of eM Client either manually (via Menu / Backup) or automatically (via Menu / Settings / General / Backup), you would first “make a backup of your current version” manually via “Menu / Backup”. Once backed up you will see the new dated backup for eM Client in Windows by default in C:\Users\Yourname\Documents\EM Client . You can change the backup location if you choose.

Then uninstall eM Client and “delete the database” on uninstall. Then d/l the previous version from the release history page above and install as new. After install, “skip the automatic email setup” when you open eM Client and restore your prev backup.zip previous dated version via “Menu / File / Restore”.

2). Alt if you have not been making backups of eM Client either manually or automatically, but you have an eg: IMAP / Exchange type account (Non POP acct), then you can just uninstall eM Client and again delete the database on uninstall and then download the previous version from the release history page and install as new and use the automatic email setup wizard (without restoring a backup) to test.
