Slow download of .pdf

From time to time I have difficulties in downloading a .pdf attachment. It takes many minutes for only 15 MB. This is not always so, but only sometimes. My account is from outlook.com. What is the reason?

If you have an eg: IMAP or Exchange type account, You can speed up that process by going to “Menu / Accounts” and enabling to “download messages offline including attachments” as in the below V9 & V10 IMAP acct examples.

Note: This will use more local mail database space, but does normally speed up that process.

Alternatively you can also optionally enable “Raw downloads” in the Sync options as in the below V10 IMAP acct example.

Enabling Raw downloads can also speedup downloading attachments much faster, but “you might get issues with the attachments” as it doesn’t use the normal reliable chunk by chunk download method. Alot of users though say it works fine for them. So is an option you can try.

This bug is not the case, if I send a .jpg file. What is the difference?

There is no slow download bug or slow sending bug.

If you have sending speed attachment issues “no matter what type of attachment”, then that is normally to do with your internet connection upload speed and your smtp server sending speed.

Also if you have any eg: optionally installed antivirus scanning on the outgoing mail attachments that can sometimes also slow email attachments sending.

OK. So it’s my provider’s fault.
