I move large amounts of email around. When I import a large number of emails, the mail_data.dat file increases in size. However, when I delete the same emails that I just imported, the size of this storeage database does NOT decrease. This is very inefficient for me in my regular data backups. Is there a way to “compress”, or clean up the empty spaces in this database periodically so it reflects the true space it actually uses?
In Outlook Express, and Windows Mail, there was a “compact messages” tool which accomplishes this. Maybe a utility to re-write the mail_data.dat file to eliminate the “air pockets”?
Hello Eric,
please try running this tool - http://www.emclient.com/tools/dbrepairrebuildall.exe

Yes that worked. Does emClient do this automatically occasionally?
Is there a zipped version of this as my security settings don’t allow download of exe files
