Signature only on 1st reply + App inbox sorting

  1. Append signature to only first reply. if somebody mails me for the first time, and I reply, i would like to have my signature included. But once included, it doesn’t needed to be added on all the subsequent follow-ups. (although right now eMc is not putting any signatures on any replies for me!)

  2. Andriod App: add Primary/Other category functionality. Right now the only way I’m aware of sorting mail from one category to the other is by clicking and dragging to the tab (and holding shift if I want that sort to be permanent). These actions are not possible in android. Perhaps you should add a menu-based way of doing this, since the app’s strength is that there is high consistency between mobile and desktop clients.

Thanks.

Suggest you put that idea on a Sleekplan suggestion for others to vote on.

You would normally just “manually delete the signature if you don’t want it after the first reply” to a specific sender which is all I currently do.

You can do that on the eM Client mobile app by either first “selecting the email or opening the email”, and then “pressing the 3 dots” at the top right of the email and selecting “Category”. Then choose the category you want on the drop-down.

Note: If you want the message in the Primary Inbox select “No Category”

This answer made no sense to me and it has taken me four months to figure it out. So it is probably not a very good design.

In order to do what you recommend, you have to go into settings and assign categories (social, updates, whatever) to the tabs (which are also “categories”, but a sort of “super category” that includes other categories when you;re not using them as tabs). To do this: settings > Mail > categories > Default categories for … > turn on the categories you want and off the ones you don’t > THEN long-press on Primary and Other to assign the categories you don’t want (because you can’t make them go away) to those tabs.

It doesn’t even say in the “choose category” 3-button dropdown which of these sub-categories map to which tabs! There is no simple way to just “move to primary” or “move to other” (which is how outlook mobile handles it). It’s truly one of the least intuitive, most illogical UI designs I’ve ever seen in a mobile app.

But the base problem is that eMc forces you to use all these categories in the first place. If somebody just wants “primary” and “other,” why not let them?

And again, the issue of having to do all this twice, once on mobile and once on the desktop for each email you need to recategorize, really feels like wasted time.

They are different clients on different devices so re-categorizing emails to different category tabs for the desktop and mobile “carn’t be done automatically via the server end” and has to be done manually separately on each client. Ive already asked support about that possibility before.

So if you don’t want to manually re-assign emails to different categories on desktop & mobile “then disable categories” so all your email arrives in your one Inbox tab.

To disable categories on the desktop & mobile, go to “Menu / Settings / Mail / Categories” and disable the check box Show Categories.

When you install eM Client V10 desktop “you can choose on the initial setup wizard screen not to have Categories”. So then when setup the mobile app via the QR Export you won’t have categories.

But if you just followed the automatic wizard recommended top option when installing V10 by default you will get Categories. But as i said categories can easily be disabled on both apps if you don’t want them on desktop & mobile.
