Can we get a color square for the category/folder colors in Email and Contacts showing next to the category and folder name? Sort of like how the Calendar colors work. I can see color markers on each email and on each contact, but there’s no quick way to reference which category it belongs to.
(coming from a synced Gmail account).
Hello,
I’m probably not completely sure what you mean - if you have the Category column displayed, it does also include the name of the category. You can select this in the Customizable toolbar, options are accessible through right-clicking the ‘Reply’ ‘Reply All’ toolbar at the top. This can also be set for the Contacts in the Custom View (as opposed to the Business Cards View)

This is mock up is what I was talking about. Notice the colors on the left next to each label or category corresponding to the same color on each email. The same thing should also work on the contacts list when looking at the Business Cards view.

Hello,
Thank you for the idea. As the categories’ name are however displayed in the single line view, there are currently no plans on adding this feature to the compact view, that focuses on being simple.

How do you get to the single line view? Because the default view, like in the screen cap above, has no way to quickly reference what categories an email is in. At the very least you should also include the categories spelled out and color coded in the header of the reading pane, the way Gmail does it. That would make things simple from a usability stand point.
Or did you mean “simple” from a programming stand point?
Hello,
The compact view is set as default until the program’s width exceeds 600 pixels in order to save space. The layout preferences, including using the single-line view at all times, can be selected in Menu ->Tools -> Settings -> Mail -> Read - Message List.
