I am trying this for the first time for my gmail.
I have downloaded and entered in the details for my gmail including address and password which I have re-checked several times.
It is coming up with an error along the lines of “An attempt to connect to [email address] failed. This could be caused by temporary server unavailability or incorrect settings. Do you want to check the settings?”
When I check the settings the Email details and longin name (same as email) and the password are all correct - I have re-entered the password several times and even gone back into gmail to make sure I am getting it right there.
But alas - no love.
Any ideas?
Hi Tom, except the displayed error, have your items been synchronized e.g. are you receiving your email, are your calendars synchronized?
What version of eM client are you currently using? When the error occurs, can you please switch to the “Log/History” tab in eM Client and copy the content of the Log?
Thank you,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
No - no emails have synchronized, nor calendar.
Version 6.0.20648.0 downloaded this week.

Also - automatically eM has set itself as my defaul mail handler. How can I switch that off? I need my Lotus Notes to be the default for my work emails.
Thanks,
Tom
Paul,
Looking at this link: http://web4.uwindsor.ca/its/faq/id/72
It seems that I am unable to make Notes my default mail client while eM is installed - this is a bit frustrating. What I am looking at here is to have a mail client that can handle my personal emails but my default needs to be Notes.
Should I re-install eM and is there an option not to make it the default client?
Otherwise I may need to un-install it,
Thanks
Tom
Hi Tom, if you have setup eM Client as the default email client you should be able to undo so in the system settings under “default programs”, however by installing eM client you should not be prevented to use another application as your default. You should be able to setup other applications as default in the setting previously mentioned.
Thank you,
Paul.
Hi Paul,
I ended up un-installing eM today as it was creating problems for me not being able to email directly from docs etc. I did try and go into settings to untick the default but I remember not being able to do so.
Ill try again tomorrow.
Any ideas on the problem with gmail not synchronising?
Tom
Hi Tom, if you’ve uninstalled the application and you have your other application setup as default. Try to not use the option to use eM client as your default eM Client in your next installation.
Looking at the log you’ve posted I only see an issue with the chat feature (error regarding XMPP connection), are you having issues with sending/receiving email using the application?
Thank you,
Paul.
