Search Folders – incorrect filtering for one email account

I’m experiencing a strange issue with Search Folders . I’ve noticed that they aren’t working correctly.

I have a Search Folder configured with “Custom Selection” , which includes four email accounts (all hosted on the same server).

Additionally, I’ve set up a “Has the words:” filter with two values: “text1, text2” .

I’ve noticed that only a dozen or so emails from one of the accounts are displayed, and the results seem completely random. We’re talking about a five-year period during which several hundred emails should match the criteria.

However, if I open that email account directly (in the left hand side accounts list) and enter the same search term (e.g., “text1”) in the Search field at the top of the screen, I get several hundred matching emails.

In the defined Search Folder , however, only a dozen or so appear. t makes no difference whether I create a new Search Folder or modify an existing one — the issue persists.

It makes no difference whether I create a new Search Folder or modify an existing one.

Interestingly, if I change the affected account to another account in the Search Folder configuration, the email list appears correctly. However, when I switch back to the original account, the list becomes extremely limited again.

I’ve already rebuilt the email search indexes twice . I did this by force-quitting the application and restarting it, which triggered the index repair process.

Unfortunately, the issue still persists.

Hi, sorry for the late reply, and thanks for the detailed description.

To pass this to our developers, could you please tell us:

  1. Your eM Client version (Menu > Help > About) and Windows or Mac version.
  2. The account type of the affected account and of the others (IMAP, POP3, Exchange…).
  3. Does the affected account use a different setting for how much mail is downloaded (for example headers only or a limited period)? You can check it in Menu > Accounts for that account.
  4. A screenshot of the search folder settings (please hide personal data).

Best,
eM Client Team
