scan to email

My set up is Windows 10, Toshiba Satellite P series, printer is Brother MFC-J480DW. When I select scan to email, I get the message “There is no default email application registered on your computer. Please register a default mail application”.I have set the default mail apps through the control panel and spent an hour on the phone with Brother support but cannot make it work. Essentially the problem is that when I go through Control Panel

I set my eM Client up this way. Click on the start button - then select Settings - then select Apps - then select Default Apps - then under Email it should show eM Client, if it does not show eM Client click on whatever email it shows and it will give you a chance to select eM Client. After you have selected eM Client and it is listed as your email program scroll down to the bottom of that same screen and select Set defaults by app - after that screen has loaded scroll down to eM Client and select it - then select the option - Set this program as default and click OK. I hope this works for you.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that I have also done all of the above previously. Thanks for the advice though, and any further ideas appreciated.

The only other thing I can think of is to makes sure that in the last step when I said to scroll down to eM Client and select it - then select the option - Set this program as default and click OK. Go back to that step and make sure that all the defaults got set. There is one setting in there that is the send email option.  When you get to that step if all the options are set it will tell all the options are set for this program. If they are not all selected - then select the Choose defaults for this program and make sure that all the options have a checkmark in it.

One other thing to check is if you were using another email program before setting up eM Client make sure the old email program does not have the send email option still set in it.

I have the same problem as Frances.
I remember a few years back I had the same problem when Outlook 2010 (or was it 2007) came out. I could not get Brother Control Center to scan to email. The solution at that time was a driver update from Brother.

Richard, have you got a Brother printer and been able to scan to eM Client from Brother Control Center?

I have also an Brother printer and Scan to Email is not working. All the time Outlook is opened. Uninstallung Outlook (wich is only temporarely possible because it ́s part offe office 365) will lead to the message “E-Mail Anwendung kann nicht geöffnet werden”. emClient is the Default App, also for the mailto protocol. It ́s the latest Windows 10. Printer is Brother MFC-L3770CDW
