Can this run in win 8 on tablet as a native app? I installed it but it runs in the windows desktop and it is frustrating having to click the keyboard icon to get it to come up so I can type a message. The win 8 email client runs outside the desktop and when I click compose it opens a new message and the keyboard pops up with it.

eM Client is build and designed mainly on desktop PC for mouse and keyboard, but we have introduced with 6th version beta “touch mode” - there you can use multitouch gestures and control buttons are bigger and more far away.
but this is quite good suggestion with automated keyboard show when click into text field. I will make this into Idea so it will not be forgotten completely, but please understand that this does not mean it will be implemented for sure.
