I use emclient as my main email app on my desktop, using a paid for personal licence. I have also been using Webmail on my Android tablet for email, without problems. Suddenly, the webmail won’t connect using any browser, with the “Your browser is a bit unusual” message.
**My question is ** can I install the emclient app on my tablet, and use both the desktop and tablet on the same email accounts?
Yes you can run em client (or any combination of email clients) on several devices including your laptop and tablet IF your email box is IMAP (and not POP). With IMAP (such as gmail accounts) the email is handled on the server, your device is just viewing what is going on on the server. So you can have various viewers, em client on your desktop, em client on your tablet, gmail on your phone, and say Thunderbird on a home computer. Also with IMAP, when you send an email you go can go to another of your devices and you can also see your sent email. If I can ask, what email service are you using? gmail?Outlook? Yahoo, or your own personal custom domain? I’m viewing the same email IMAP account on my laptop, tablet and cellphone. It doesn’t matter which device I grab next, all incoming and outgoing email are there.
If you are on an iPad, the Mail app is a pretty good alternative too.
The other good thing is em client for tablets is free.
Thanks very much for your very helpful reply.
My email service is from a uk provider, 123Reg, and is linked to my private domain.
However, from the desktop accounts it is configured to use IMAP (though there is something in there about synching to pop3, which I don’t understand)
Anyway, I’ve installed the Android app and I’m giving it a go. The Inbox and sundry other folders are fine, but the SMTP out folder is not behaving. I’ll keep looking to see if I can understand why!
Thanks again, Dave
