Restore appdata\roaming but gmail keeps deleting everything once connected

Restoring the database doesn’t add what is in the backup to the existing database. It replaces the existing database with the snapshot in the backup. Because you made the backup before you archived the messages, those local messages aren’t in the backup, so they won’t be there once you have restored it.

Exactly, so by restoring backup you efectively delete your whole history in archive.=> lose all data as they are no longer on server.
No user will think that if you have a archived data, restoring data for active email will destroy archive also.

If you allow to create archive from backup data (offline) before it is updated, then you can restore lost archive + update your email status → create new backup and have both backup together with archived data. Data saved.
