Request to Allow Sending of .eml Attachments in eM Client

Dear eM Client Support Team,

I am writing to report an issue and to request a possible improvement.

When trying to send emails with .eml files attached using eM Client, the application blocks the message with an error stating that the file extension is disallowed. However, the same attachment can be sent without any issue via Microsoft Outlook or webmail using the same SMTP server, which confirms that the restriction is enforced locally by eM Client.

This limitation poses a significant problem for users who frequently need to forward saved email files (e.g., for legal, documentation, or archiving purposes).

Could you please:

  • Confirm whether this restriction is intentional and hard-coded?
  • Consider providing an option in the Settings or Advanced Configuration that allows users to whitelist or override disallowed extensions like .eml?
  • Suggest any current workaround that allows .eml files to be sent directly without renaming or compressing them?

Thank you in advance for your time and assistance. Looking forward to your response.

Best regards,

eM Client does not block any attachments, that message is from your mail provider and eM Client just shows it to tell you why your message couldn’t be sent.

Please contact your admin or email account provider with this request instead - they are the ones who need to allow EML files as attachments.
