I have read over the posts on this topic (from about 2021) and wonder if eM is now moving toward including recurring tasks for Gmail accounts as is done for Outlook and Exchange accounts. The reason that I ask is because I canNOT add recurring tasks in any of my Gmail accounts within eM; however, I CAN add recurring tasks in my Gmail accounts via the Tasks app in my Google Shortcuts and these tasks DO appear as such in eM. So, it seems that, contrary to what was said in 2021, one CAN add recurring tasks in Gmail but that eM has not integrated that feature yet under “Tasks”. Thoughts?
The API provided by Google does not support recurring tasks.
If you go to the Task section of eM Client and start a new task in the Google account folder, only the fields supported by the API are shown in the task. So title, due, status and unformatted notes.
Thanks, Gary, for this update. So, if I understand correctly, this is a Google imposed limitation, and not one that eM is at liberty to change. Until it does change, I’ll probably do any recurring tasks in Google but directly in the Tasks option provided by Google.
Due to the Google Tasks API limitation which has been like that for years, i create “a recurring Calendar event instead” in eM Client Gmail Calendar. Works fine for those recurring tasks.
Thank you. Yes, this was a situation also recommended by eM. I have used this as recently as this week! I will probably end up using a combination of recurring events (as you suggest) and also direct input via Google Tasks (which does allow recurring events to show up in eM, just not be entered in eM).
Does this also affect invites which include a recurrence? When I accept an invite with a recurring event, the events correctly appear on the eM calendar but do not sync to Google Calendar. This has caused me to miss events which I accepted Has anyone found a workaround for this?
