THe latest Winodws automatic update (21H1 for 64bit) has either deleted or mislayed my contacts emails. HOw can I recover these?

Presumably you will have taken the sensible and advised action to close all Apps before running the 21H1 update… if not you will know next time.
Your best option is #1
1./ Restore eMC backup from immediately before the update (Menu ->File ->Restore) this will recover your eMC installation - be careful to select the correct Backup file
If not try option #2
2./ If you have Windows correctly configured you can attempt to restore your computer to the state it was in prior to the 21H1 update (If you do not know the easiest way for you to do this is: Control Panel ->Recovery ->Open System Restore ->Select the appropriate recovery option - it will either work or not)
