I’m having random total freezes while interacting with eM Client. It will happen completely at random and the thing that triggers it is any interaction with the program itself such as opening an email, replying, flagging, etc. The program will not go into an unresponsive state, the window will just freeze and become inaccessible until closed with task manager. The problems started with update 10.3.1738.0 and I reverted to 10.3.1567.0 but I am still having the same problems. I have not made any major software nor hardware changes to trigger the issue. I’ve tried a total reinstall of eM Client, downgraded GPU drivers to the most stable version considered by the community and updated Windows 11 to version 10.0.26100 but nothing has worked.
Thanks in advance.
Update: Disabling optimizations for windowed games and Auto HDR just on the eM Client executable seems to have helped a bit.
I posted yesterday about inaccessibility, and again today, because overnight the problem appeared to have gone away.
However, about an hour ago, the problem recurred.
Obviously, there are problems with the new release.
I read elsewhere it may have to do with something referred to as folder synchronizing.
Why doesn’t eM Client just come out and explain that?
I guess the best thing for all of us is to simply be patient.
That’s really disappointing to hear. I keep getting stuck after composing a message as well, just for it to lead into a total freeze if I try and cancel sending the email. It’s making eM Client very difficult to use. I wish clients were as patient as eM Client would like us to be.
John_A, Good question. I do and it is PCMatic. I ran two scans today and both were negative.
PCMatic has something about APP blocking and white listing, which I tried to check today, but it was looping on me and getting nowhere. Tomorrow I’m going to pursue that issue with PCMatic, to see if it is blocking eM Client. Good question on your part. PeteD
Cytho, I do all of my compositions on Word. When I’m ready to “go to press”, I copy and paste.
I’ve lost too many comps in the past.
Takes a little longer, but I hate to lose those initial thoughts.
Seems like I can never quite get them back again as good as that first try.

My Windows is completely up to date and will not offer any updates after checking. The only antivirus/security software I have installed is Windows Defender.
I might have to try PeteD’s idea of composing in word before sending, I’ve been copying the email body and holding it in my clipboard but it does seem like most messages send even if eM Client freezes, I just need to kill the task and reopen eM Client again, letting it go through the database checking process.
Hi,
I have the same issue here. 3 devices affected after updating to 10.3.1738 (984d31d).
Windows (Enterprise) 10, 11, all up-to-date, all using MS Defender. Pure office computer, no games or non-standard software installed.
Very disturbing, as it happens completely out of the blue.
I haven’t had malware in over a decade but I ran a test just in case and there were no positives. This is getting real frustrating. It seems like it has something to do with IMAP because the freeze occurs whenever I make interactions that the log shows an IMAP synchronization.
STATUS: PROBLEM RESOLVED
Discussion: I had a suspicion that PC Matic might be blocking eM Client after the 10.3.1738 upgrade. When my C/P was running, I could not launch eM Client. When my C/P is running, PC Matic runs simultaneously. I decided I would try a little trick. I would shut down all applications, then shut down the C/P. Then boot the C/P, and as soon as I could interface with the C/P but before PC Matic could get up and running, I would try to launch eM Client. Bingo! It worked. So now I was 99% sure PC Matic was blocking the new version of eM Client. I contacted PC Matic, and they guided me to a page in my account where I could view blacklists (app blocked) and whitelists (app allowed). These are created lists. Both were empty. But a further search of the page disclosed that PC Matic on its own initiative was blocking eM Client. So I countermanded this block, and whitelisted eM Client. All is well, and I can take eM Client up and down at will. For those of you still having problems, I wanted to share this with you. I hope that it might be of some help to some poor distressed soul out there coping with the same problem that I had. PD

Maybe you need to be sure that no 3rd party app is interfering with eM Client. A couple of suggestions:
Are you using a VPN? If so, try turning it off, then seeing if you still get the issue.
To remove the possibility of interference by another app, if you are confident about doing it, you could choose to do a “clean boot” of Windows then see if you still get the issue. Then, of course, revert the computer to a normal boot afterwards. The process is long winded but relatively simple.

As already mentioned, I am observing the problem on three different systems.
LT with VPN (switching on and off has no effect), a desktop PC without VPN, and a virtual PC without VPN.
All have relatively different software configurations (Win10/11, some with Office, some without). The antivirus software is MS Defender. So far, however, I have not noticed that it blocks the emclient.
Providing an update since this issue has not been resolved. Currently, the most repeatable method to get eM Client to crash is right after having received many new emails and opening up the program. When ever you interact with any of the messages, be it flagging or simply opening one, the program freezes, sometimes giving a spinning circle saying this may take a moment. I’ll have to forcefully end task each time until it fixes itself. Each time I end task it will have to fix the database and normally make about 6-8 fixes. The second most common way to get the program to freeze is by clicking a new email message within a few seconds up to a minute after receiving it. Really would appreciate some help because this is making the program unusable.
