Problems accessing to SKY Yahoo mail

hello,

I have just moved and upgraded my eM client on a new PC

the Backup and Restore process worked OK for moving data across OK, but since the move only one out of three of my email accounts will contact the SKY/Yahoo mail servers

I have tried deleting and recreating one of the accounts using both automatic, Yahoo and Other options

None have been successful:

Automatic seems to go through OK. A SKY email login for the right accounts pops up on my browser, I sign in but the next screen appears to be a redirect in SKY/Yahoo land beginning…
https://skyidapp.sky.com/signin/opensso/SSORedirect/metaAlias/idp?ReqID=_4
This never opens

eM Client appears to try to sync with the server but noting arrives ( and I know some mail is waiting )

If I use the “Other” ( Manual ) account creation options with the advertised credentials imap.mail.yahoo.com port 993 and smtp.mail.yahoo.com port 465 or 587 I get an error at the Test stage. Attempts to use Fix are not successful

As I say one of my email accounts is working perfectly otherwise I’d think there was an installation issue

Does anyone recognise this problem please?

Yes you normally need to use the automatic account wizard setup with Yahoo / Sky accounts which then uses a passwordless OAuth2 token.

So try going into your Yahoo / Sky account and “remove the previous OAuth2 eM Client app token”, and then remove your Yahoo / Sky account from eM Client. Then “close eM Client” and “clear your browser cache completely”. Then reopen eM Client and try readding your Yahoo / Sky account again via the automatic account wizard via “Menu / Accounts” / Add account.

Note: If you carn’t find the eM Client OAuth2 app token, then contact Yahoo technical support via their webpage or phone. My own Yahoo OAuth2 token is in the Yahoo account online in the Menu “Recent Activity” / “Connected apps” section part way down on the right.” Yours might be the same.

If that still won’t open that Sky / Yahoo redirect page, then “try setting a different browser as default” and setup again. You might also need to eg: Reset your browser to default settings incase it’s a restriction in the browser that’s changed.

Note: Sometimes as well in the redirect Yahoo screen if nothing is appearing to click on, then you might need to eg: “Toggle around” your open windows as it might then be prompting you in the background to authorise eM Client etc.

The Yahoo account wizard setup normally will end up with the following example IMAP settings.

Server address - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Port - 993
Security policy - Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy).

Lastly sometimes “background programs starting up running resident can cause interference” with browsers authenticatiing such as eg: Optionally installed Firewall / Security programs or Optionally installed Antivirus programs or VPNs. So if you have anything like that installed other than what comes default with the OS “try completely disabling those to test” incase of any interference.

Thanks ever so much cyberzork, lots of useful information there.

You were right about the token. It was my fault; the token will only work for existing Sky/Yahoo accounts if you specify both the email address and the original account name you chose when you first set it up. In this case, I’d missed the significance of making sure they matched my original definitions and the token rejected the set up

thanks again!
