Continuously getting an indicator that my account settings are incorrect. I’ve changed the smtp to every recommended setting with no positive results.
If I send from my gmail account it works fine. I need to get EM Client back on track…
These are the correct Gmail settings:
If that doesn’t work, as a test, can you completely disable any anti-virus, firewall, proxy or VPN, then try again. Sometimes even restarting your router may resolve this.
Hi Gary,
Thank you for this. The settings are correct. I’ve deleted and reinstalled EM Client and have also restarted my router. Northing appears to be fixing the problem.
Any additional suggestions are very much appreciated…
What anti-virus app are you using, and did you disable it?
What about the firewall, proxy or VPN?
I disabled AVAST and that only leaves WINDOWS security and it’s made no difference…
Gary,
I’ve reached out so much that I’m not sure how up-to-date you are on my problem.
I now have fiber optic and eM client will not send or receive mail. If I switch back to my old dsl it works just fine. However, my dsl will be disabled on Saturday, the 26th.
I really need this eM client issue resolved.
I can open gmail and send/receive with no problem. What is wrong on the eM client side?..

I have full fibre and have no problems with eMC and it is highly unlikely that the
fault will be with eMC
Who supplies your FTTP service?
Are you using the Router they supplied?
The fact that you can send using webmail only confirms you can connect.
I am surprised that you have both FTTP & DSL working concurrently.
You state you DSL ends on 26th (don’t shout at me if I ask what you think is a stupid question)
Are you certain that your FTTP service is live?

See my response below.
- FTTP supplied by AT&T, large phone/internet provider
- Using the router they supplied
- FTTP service is live and working well for everything except this email as verified by the provider this morning.
Is there some setting within the eM Client arena that needs to be activated? I have checked settings within the email menu and don’t see anything but maybe I’m not seeing something that I should.
Are others that have switched from DSL to fiber optic experiencing the same issue? If so, how did they get it corrected? or have they still got the problem?

There is nothing you normally need to do in eM Client to adjust for any different type of Internet connections.
Sometimes you can get issues is when you eg: change internet providers and you sometimes have to change local SMTP server settings to get mail to send without relaying errors. However with Gmail SMTP settings which you appear to have, you don’t normally need to change that SMTP server setting as will normally send mail on any type of connection.
The only other thing I can think of is the new FTTP modem / router is possibly blocking the incoming and outgoing mail ports in eM Client that are maybe not blocked in the DSL router. So I would contact your FTTP router support to check the new modem / router settings.
1st of All I want to thank Skybat and Cyberzork for their input. Between the 2 of them I brainstormed all possible issues.
After contacting my fiber optic provider, AT&T (largest provider in southeast USA), again this morning I had to do the following.
The fiber optic modem firewall is inflexible so the ports that needed to be opened to send/receive emails via eM Client were never allowed access.
To circumvent this I had to daisy chain my existing modem to the new modem so that basically the firewall for the new fiber optic is bypassed.
Do I like this mickey mouse solution - not really but it’s working.
I hope this helps anyone else experiencing the same issue…
Great you go it fixed in a roundabout way, however the Ports for Sending and Receiving email like Browser ports should always be open in any type of Modem / Router. AT&T need to do a firmware update to fix that as will happen with any email client. You shouldn’t need to daisy chain anything.
