I want to go back emclient 10 to 9. I found a guide from 2010 on the forum, but I can’t do it according to it. here are the problems i ran into.
Are you wanting to downgrade due to problems with V10 ? or do you just prefer V9 ?
If you are wanting to downgrade to V9 due to problems, we might be able to help fix to avoid that if you update in this thread what problems they are.
This is the offical eM Client support link how to downgrade back to eM Client V9 or older if you do want to do that.
If you have been making regular eM Client backups prior to V10 either automatically via the “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Backup” or manually via “Menu / Backup” which creates dated backup.zip files in your "Documents / eM Client: folder, then you can just simply uninstall eM Client and delete the database when asked on the uninstall wizard “or rename the database first as per the support link above”. Then download eM Client V9 from the release history page and “skip the setup wizard” and then restore your V9 backup via “Menu / File / Restore”. Any new emails, calendar updates, contacts updates, tasks etc since the backup will automatically update when eM Client syncs.
If you don’t have any eM Client V9 backups, and you have an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud (Non POP) account, and nothing in Local folders at the bottom left of eM Client, then just uninstall eM Client V10 and delete the database when asked on the uninstall wizard, “or rename the database first as per the support link above”. Then download eM Client V9 from the release history page and reinstall and re-setup new. All your email, calendar, contacts, tasks etc will just update automatically from the server end when eM Client syncs.
If you have a POP account and no eM Client backups, then you will normally need to manually export your data first before uninstalling V10 as per the eM Client support link. Not all the V10 export options are compatible with V9.
POP Messages, you can export to .eml message files via “Menu / File / Export” in V10 which then can then be imported into V9 via “Menu / File / Import”.
An alternate way i suggest is to eg: Create a folder on your desktop called eg: Old Mail and then just drag any current Messages and any custom Message folders to the Old Mail folder on your desktop. Then when you get V9 installed and re-setup again, you can then just drag the messages and custom message folders back into your new POP account “as they were before”.
POP Contacts you can export to .vcf files via “Menu / File / Export” in V10 which then should be able to be manually imported to eM Client V9 via “Menu / File / Import”.
POP Calendar you can export to .ics files via “Menu / File / Export” in V10 which then should be able to be manually imported to eM Client V9 via “Menu / File / Import”.
POP Accounts you would normally have to manually re-setup again via “Menu / Accounts / Add Account / Mail / Other” option. So you would write down your Current POP and SMTP Tabs Server Settings in V10 before you uninstalled V10, so you know what to enter when you manually re-setup V9.
