POP3 "Server not responding" error for email

I have a fully updated emClient on a Windows OS, with multiple email accounts. One of my accounts shows an error message for retrieving POP3 email. All the others are fine. The SMTP for this account is also fine and I can send out with no problem. I ran a diagnostic test in the account settings.with the result that “server not responding.” When I tried to “fix,” there was the message " Fixing failed." I tested the same email on my phone with my android settings; no problem. closed and opened eMClient, no help.

What could the issue be?

One of my accounts shows an error message for retrieving POP3 email. All the others are fine.

Go to “Menu / Accounts” and click on your account “POP” tab, and update what your “Server address, Port and Security policy” is.

I tested the same email on my phone with my android settings; no problem.

Has this POP account ever worked before in eM Client on desktop ?

Also what version of eM Client do you have ?

Hi, I am using version 10.3.1738 (984d31d).
I have been using the email for over a year now with no problem. Same port and server address. Certainly no change in the past several months. The issue suddenly popped up this morning.

OK, this is odd. Now the error triangle disappeared and it is working again. I didn’t change anything. Just works. I am wondering whether it was my provider - Earthlink. But that makes no sense as my phone downloaded messages with no problem.

If it just started working and you haven’t changed anything, then yes could be your mail server had a problem or was offline for some unknown reason, or maybe the connections between your ISP and the remote mail server had routing problems along the way which can sometimes happen if a eg: undersea internet cable got cut etc and then it starts connecting again ok when it’s repaired. However if your phone connected ok then the mail server sounded like it was ok and wasn’t that, and could be your phone was using a different cell data connection and not the same wifi as the computer where the computer physical routing to the mail server was different than the mobile routing.

Apart from possibly differences in routing to the mail server “where it’s been working fine and then suddenly stops” (only on your computer), then if you have any eg: optionally installed eg: Firewall / Security program or optionally installed antivirus program or VPNs. Sometimes they can interfere with mail clients. So if you do have anything like that installed “other than what comes default with your OS”, then if it happens again try completely disabling those to test incase it’s that causing it.
