POP3 accounts, messages are deleted from the mail server when ->>

Why did this work without problems in Entourage, Outlook, Postbox, Thunderbird - but not in eM?
Before in my Windows time I used TheBat - moving without delete works well too.

I find this trend toward considering POP protocol inappropriate surprising. Personally, all of my email accounts on my office PC are POP, but I have two of them set up as IMAP on a smartphone. I rarely use this smartphone, this configuration allows me to delete emails that I don’t want to see again on my PC.

REMARK: emails moved via rules are not deleted from the server (EMC 10.3.1738 on Windows)..

1+2) that is why I asked, if you have all your accounts syncing to one local folder tree, this is the use case we’ve tested and it DOES not delete the message when moved into some other subfolder of Local folders, that is why it is so important to exactly know what is the from and to folder. So based on our testing Move from “Local Folders/Inbox” to “Local Folders/Inbox/Subfolders” DOES not delete the message from the server. Exactly for this use case, your eM Client behaves differently?

Another case is when you use separate POP3 trees and you are moving from for example:
[email protected]/Inbox” to “Local Folders/Inbox/Subfolders”. In this case the idea was that you are moving the email to a different account, so the message should be removed from the original one.

Can you confirm which of these 2 cases it is? We can imagine, that we’ll add a condition, that if the move is between POP3 (separate tree) account and local folders, we won’t do the delete,
but for the move between different accounts, we believe this is a logical behavior.

How you would otherwise remove the message from the server after the move? It would stay there forever (or you would to go to your webmail solution).

I use more profiles now, some only for testing
This is the POP3 Profile for test - the same gives as other profile as IMAP

This are new an not imported from Postbox!

I move from Inbox to __Test Ordner

With this no delete after moving

With this settings mails deletes from server after moving

Now I have two main profiles (four in total).
A Main profile with some POP3 and some IMAP (different mail accounts)
An now I create a IMAP only profile for all this accounts to manage all mails on server.
Two profile settings I used on Postbox too, but the eM import brakes all …

In The Main profile (POP3) I use this setting now, till the problem is solved.

So you are moving from a separate POP3 folder tree account to Lokale Ordner, right? That’s what I was asking for and you said the opposite. Yes in this case the message really is deleted from POP3 server and it is the case we can do an exception from the behavior because it might be reasonable. For the moving from one account to another, we still believe it makes sense to delete the message from the source account. I’ll put that change to our road plan.

I’ve always meant it that way, perhaps not quite clearly expressed.

Ok, so we are going to fix this particular use case in one of the upcoming update (soon).

This version should resolve your problem. Please confirm that if you can.

I need a test version for Mx ARM Mac.
No Windows here

It is the same version:
https://www.emclient.com/dist/v10.3.2412_Mac/setup.pkg

Test: emclient-v10.3.2412_Mac … 10.3.2412 (260ec1e)

Erster Test:

First test:
2 mails sent from another mail account to this mailbos:

POP3 account:
Move mail 1 to a local folder
Delete mail 2 - recycle bin and empty it
Delete mail 3 - recycle bin - but do not empty it

Now logged in to this mailbos with IMAP
Moved mail 1 to a local folder - this mail is available on the server
Mail 2 - this mail is deleted
Mail 3 (only moved to trash - but do not empty it) - this mail is available on the server

I think this works well now.
In the next few days I will test this with the profile in which all mailboxes are available.
