Pictures fit into the mail window

I see people have been talking about this for several years. Whats the status of getting email images to fit into the window?Common on all other email clients, regardless of platform if you get an email with a pic, it fits into the window width. If you send an email and drag a pic in, it fits into the window width.

What’s the problem with implementing this common behaviour in eMClient?
Oh yes, and the resize images does a totally horrible job of compression…

If you drag a picture into a new compose window, “it keeps the picture by default” at the original pixel size as per the first example screenshot below which in this example is 1600 x 1000 pixels.

Now if you don’t want it in the original picture pixel size, you can then reduce it to “whatever size you want” by “first clicking on the picture” and then selecting either a preset or custom size from the dropdown menu as in the below eg: “Large” size (as per the second example screenshot) which automatically then adjusts the picture to 1024 x 640 pixels.

Or if you want it smaller again, you can then “click the picture again” and select eg: “Medium” size, which then automatically adjusts the image to 640 x 400 pixel size (as per the third example screenshot) below.

Clicking custom will also allow you to “specific your own size” and “also see what pixel size it currently is”. eM Client also keeps the image in Proportion by default, which you will see when you press Custom. It also retains the original picture colours perfectly.

So its completely up to you as to what size the inline pictures are when you send your email.

Tip:- If you want to resize an inline image / picture (without clicking custom), then “click once on the image” and then “hold the shift key” and while holding “drag either the top right or bottom right corner” of the image.

Hi thanks for getting back for me. That’s not what I’m saying. I know you can manually resize images. Emclient seems to do a horrible job of this, the emailed images look like bad jpeg compression for the receiver.

What I and others am talking about, is dragging a picture in and it automatically fits the window— without recompressing the image. Or I receive an image in an email and this fits into the window.

-Which is what all other email clients seem to have been able to do for about 10 years.

I don’t get that issue with any of my receivers with all different mail clients on desktop or mobile. If the images look bad at the other end, then either the original image was low res or not good quality to start with when dropped in to the new compose window, or the receiving mailer “is interpreting or compressing the image” after it arrives in their mailer and so then making it look bad quality.

What I and others am talking about, is dragging a picture in and it automatically fits the window— without recompressing the image.

When you drag an image inline into the compose window, it leaves it “in the same pixel resolution and image quality” as the original. Its not supposed to by default automatically adjust to fit the width and height of the compose window. Thats up to you to adjust it after dropping it in.

Or I receive an image in an email and this fits into the window.

eM Client will show “the receiving mail” inline image “exactly the same pixel size and quality” as they sent it. It doesn’t normally automatically reduce the pixel / resolution etc. So if they sent an inline image as eg: size 1600 x 1000 pixel size, it will be exactly the same size in eM Client.

That pixel size though interestingly when received “does automatically fit to the width of the preview window” when it arrives showing inline in eg: V10 and no scrolling around to see the whole image in my 2K res. So could be something new in V10.

Note:- If there is a way to automatically adjust the incoming email inline image pixel size to the width when received of all different sized images, then someone will update this thread.

If you are using version 10, we do resize images in messages you receive. If it is not happening automatically, have you tried a single click on the image that is too large, to toggle it to fit?

Good to know V10 now automatically resizes pics in incoming messages. Happy with that :grinning:.
