Hi,
I have a Pro license that I believe can be used on 3 different devices.
I am using it on 2 devices and yet I have to reactivate the license each time I use EmClient. So when I use my PC, it is disabled on the laptop and vice versa.
I can’t imagine that this is normal. How can I permanently activate the license on both computers? Unfortunately, and completely incomprehensibly, there is no longer any access to the license manager, as I had with an older purchase of a Pro license. This means that I can’t even check if there are still computers in my activations that I have replaced in the meantime. This is incomprehensible to me and makes life difficult for users.
I was and still am an avid user of EmClient, but this kind of restriction does not reflect well on the program. Why shouldn’t I be able to see on which computers my license is activated? Not a good customer service…
@chapolin
Have you tried Deactivating each and then reactivating in order?

Sounds like it’s only a single device Pro license being it deactivates the other one all the time.
Did you originally purchase 1 X Pro license and then buy 2 X extra device licences ?
Or did you buy just 1 X Pro license which then only works on 1 device. If that’s the case, you can buy additional Pro device licenses via the following webpage as per @Gary post in this thread.Black Friday sale this year (2024)? - #22 by Gary
Gary’s Quote- “Existing customers get 50% off the price of a new license, when purchasing additional devices for their license, 365 days a year”
Or did you buy the new Personal 3 Device license ?
I’m having the same problem. Support has been useless. I’ve been using emclient for years, but licensing has become unnecessarily complicated and it takes days to get a response. When they do respond they’re not helpful. I don’t know what’s going on but if their goal is to drive me away it’s working.
I’m having the same problem.
What license version did you buy, and how many devices are you trying to install it on ?
I have 2 Pro licenses. I thought, when I bought the second one in 2013, that it was usable on up to 3 devices. This turns out not to be the case. A license is required for each device, even though it is the same user on each device.
I don’t clearly recall the circumstances at the time of purchase so I can’t say why that has been my assumption all these years. I will say that trying to get into the license manager, and consolidate the 2 licenses into one account was far more difficult and took far more time that it should have.

Yes that is correct a Pro license is normally required on each device where then if you wanted a 3rd Pro license, (as an existing customer), you would go to the following link in @Gary post above and get the 50% disc 365 days a year.
Yes, I have a Pro License, which is supposed, following you, to be used on just one device. And I have a very old Personal License, I bought, when EmClient was quiet new on the market. This one I’m supposed to use at least on 2 devices, maybe three, I always used only 2 devices. Including the user-friendly license manager, which also isn’t included in Pro License.
To be honest, and I don’t want to be unfriendly, but your license model is nothing then shit. In our world, where people need to work in office, in home office and with the laptop wherever in the world, a user should be allowed to use a paid software on more than one device. Anything else is just a subtle form of exploitation.
To be more precise, there aren’t many software manufacturers left that operate such a rigorous license model. So don’t be surprised if your customers run away from you. It’s a bad joke that you’re selling us a 50% reduced model as a solution instead of putting pressure on your management to finally introduce a modern license model. It seems even more ridiculous to me that the Personal License does allow 3 devices. So are business customers just there to be milked like cows?
Sorry, Cyberzorg, I have so far recommended EmClient to all sorts of colleagues and acquaintances. Unfortunately, that’s over now and as soon as work allows, I’ll look for an alternative that offers a customer-oriented pricing model. It starts with the free Thunderbird and goes all the way to Outlook, which is also included in my office suite. Outlook is a bloated monster, which is why I switched to EmClient, but at the prices you are charging now, I’d rather fight with a monster and go out to dinner with my loved ones from the money I save on an overpriced license model from you.
It’s a shame that there isn’t a more appealing solution.

Ok so you should then have 3 device licences from what you’ve advised above.
As you bought an old Personal version which you believe included 2 licences, if they are “no longer activating separately anymore”, then could be they were for eg: older versions.
Or could be you might be possible eg: entering the wrong license when activating so then eM Client thinks it only a single licence.
What Personal licence version of eM Client did you buy previously eg: 6,7,8,9 ?
Also did you pay extra for lifetime upgrades when you bought the Personal version ?
Are you still using the same version or did you install / update to a later version ?
Have you lodged a support request to check your Pro and Old Personal licence versions ?
Good morning, cyberzorg,
I bought my personal license as part of my self-employment in 2017, it is a Pro with lifetime updates (business) and, as I have now checked again, is valid for 2 devices.
The version I bought through my employer is also a Pro version, version 9 (business) at the time of ordering, with lifetime upgrades. So it’s exactly the same license model, at least that’s what it seemed like when I ordered it. It may be that I didn’t read carefully when I ordered this version 2022, but of course I assumed that this version could also be used on two devices. As I said, it is incomprehensible to me that in a world in which mobility has become the norm, a software manufacturer comes up with the incomprehensible idea of reducing from 2 usable devices to 1 device, obviously in order to increase sales and unfortunately also to scare away customers.

I would then suggest to either login and lodge a support request via the VIP support page “to check your license” on the second Pro 9 (Business) version, or email [email protected] to check for you.
