I would like to pause one of my accounts. Leaving the others as normal. I don’t wont to remove it completely, any way? I have switched ISP’s, but I would like to be able to look at the old mail without a constant error message popping up asking for my password.
I would like to be able to look at the old mail without a constant error message popping up asking for my password.
If its a POP account go to “Menu / Accounts” and click the “General tab”. Then under Services at the very bottom, uncheck the box marked “Include when sending/receiving mail”. Save accounts.
If its an IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account, then you have a few options.
If you have eM Client V10 you can now create an eg: external (.emdf) data file on your hard-disk in a folder such as “Documents / eM Client” where you can then create mail folders under that data file to store any old account mail you don’t currently need.
That data file can then either be left there “permanently open” to add to it anytime, or can be unmounted and remounted anytime later. To create the Data file go to “Menu / Data files”. See eM Client help documentation on that via the link below.

Alternatively you could use the eM Client “Local folders” at the bottom left to store old account email in, by manually creating an eg: Old Account Mail folder and dragging / moving mail under that.
If you don’t have Local folders enabled” up to V9, go to “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General” and enable Show local folders.
To show Local Folders in V10, go to “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Folders” and enable Local Folders.
Lastly if you do move old account mail under Data Files or Local Folders, make sure you backup regularly via either the automatic periodic backup via “Menu / Settings (Preferences) / General / Backup”, or regularly via “Menu / Backup” as that email is then only locally on your computer.
Thank you! This old account was a pop account and your solution worked, I also moved all the old emails to the local folder, per your suggestion, an I updated the backup. Thanks again!
