Outlook setup and Oauth2

I am a new user, trying to set up an Outlook account, but each attempt ends with error message in Oauth2 authentication. In reviewing the forum, the inability set up Outlook appears to not be uncommon. Is there any way to override the ‘wizard’ that does the setup? I do get the popup from MS that I want to connect with eMclient, and then a popup from eMclient appears, stating that I am almost finished. Then, after a minute or two, the Oauth2 error appears. Thanks for any tips.

Is this the place to report bugs in initial setup? I had been unable to create an account for an Outlook account, with consistent ‘Oauth2 failure’ messages from the wizard, so I tried importing the account from Thunderbird. In Thunderbird, the account used outlook.office365.com with Oauth2 for incoming, and smtp.office365.com with Oauth2 for outgoing. Instead of importing the settings as they existed, eMclient recreated the account with imap-mail.outlook.com without Oauth2 for input, and smtp-mail.outlook.com without Oauth2 for output. Those servers are invalid for Outlook and were not in the Thunderbird setup. To me, this is a bug, recreating instead of importing and using incorrect servers.

Normally you need to use the automatic account wizard for Outlook accounts using OAuth2.

If you are clicking allow at the end of the automatic account wizard setup to give eM Client access to your Outlook account but it’s failing, “toggle around and see if there something behind your browser” waiting to be clicked / checked etc

If nothing else showing in any other window, try then closing eM Client and clearing your browser’s cache & cookies etc & try again. Even try reset your browser to defaults. Or try setting “an alternative / different browser as the default” to test.

If that still fails, uninstall eM Client and then download the latest version via the release history page and reinstall & then see if that works.

If that still won’t authenticate, sometimes optionally installed programs can cause delays such as eg: optionally installed Firewall Security programs or optionally installed Antivirus programs or VPNs. So if you have anything like that installed other than what comes default with the OS, try completely disabling those to test.

Lastly if it still won’t authenticate “do a screenshot of where you get up to in the wizard”, and also if you have Windows or Mac and your OS version.
