I am using eM Client version 6.0.24928.0 , and I am unable to send messages via SMTP through my Outlook Mail (outlook.com) account. A few days ago, I created an account in my eM Client app for Outlook with IMAP/SMTP. The IMAP sync works fine, and I’m (still) able to send messages from the outlook.com web interface. However, every time I try to send a message from eM Client through the Outlook account, after a few seconds I see the following error in the Operations log:

I’m using the SMTP server hostname (“smtp-mail.outlook.com”) and port (587) indicated by all the Outlook online documentation I’ve found. I have tried all the Security Policy settings, all with the same result.
This problem has been happening for several days, so I’m fairly certain it is not really a “temporary server error”, but something systematic.
I contacted Microsoft Outlook online support about this problem, but of course they claimed it’s a problem with “the third-party application” and referred me to you.
