I thought SMTP is used to send messages in a typical IMAP confguration and AirSync syncs all the other services.
With an eg: Outlook / Hotmail / Live IMAP setup “using AirSync” the SMTP tab is no longer used for sending mail as @Gary advised recently in his various posts. I didn’t know that till recently.
So, why do you need the smtp configuration for these accounts?
Yes I suggested in another recent thread post, due to eM Client is not currently using the SMTP tab with AirSync MS setups using the automatic account wizard, to completely hide the SMTP tab.
As (it just confuses users leaving it showing), who then sometimes play around with the SMTP configuration when they have sending mail problems and it’s nothing to do with that.
So eM Client in my view should only show the SMTP tab for non AirSync type account setup / configurations.
Or alt maybe just eg: disable / ghost the SMTP settings in the tab so users know they are not used when you have AirSync enabled.
@Michal_Burger maybe something to look at changing in the future setups if AirSync is used.permanently to make it simpler for users.
Does this mean that if I disable Airsync, then I will be able to download emails.
Unfortunately, removing airsync (in Accounts) does not allow download of emails
That will be some other issue causing your Outlook account receiving problems.
Re-enable AirSync in your Outlook account and save accounts. Then close and reopen eM Client.
Then click “Show Operations” via the dropdown on the right of Refresh top left and click the “Log tab”. Then look for any obvious errors and paste them in this thread. We might then be able to see why you are not receiving / downloading mail.
Also have you tried the latest eM Client V10.0.3125 ? That receives and sends fine with my own Outlook Live and Hotmail accounts using the automatic account wizard setup on Pc and Mac. So suggest to try that if you haven’t already.
But, on the other hand, I think that if you enter wrong credentials in SMTP, emClient keeps asking for the correct data. I am not sure but I think this is the behaviour, even though, as you say now, it does not use SMTP at all.
It is obvious that there is something wrong with the current AirSync implementation as people and I keep saying here and in private communication with Gary and the team.
What I find annoying is that the em team does not recognise it as a problem. This attitude is even worst than the actual problem.
If you have a paid license, please open a support ticket with us. We can have a look at some logs and see where the issue is.
However, I seem to recall that you have already submitted logs (or was it someone else?), which we investigated and can see that there is a DNS issue with your device. That will need to be resolved before eM Client can connect to the mail server.
Version 10 didn’t sync with hotmaii.
The problem continues.
I did check the log earlier. It showed attempts to sync with folders, but nothing actually downloaded. Would version 10 be any different?
As the latest V10 didn’t sync either and only showing attemps to sync with folders and nothing downloading, suggest then if you have a current paid active version of eM Client to “send in the full operations log” to eM Client support to be investigated on a VIP support ticket.

Yes, this is me. You said that I need to contact the ISP to ask them to resolve the DNS issue but I explained numerous times that this is not the problem.
Again, as per our communication, since I reported the issue, I traveled in two countries, stayed in different cities and still, eM does not sync with hotmail and outlook. Are you suggesting that all ISPs around the world have an issue with my device when I use eM?
The problem is your AirSync implementation, which is something that even Microsoft doesn’t use.
There are people in this forum saying the same thing, basically.
I think your team should investigate these reports more seriously.
I have a paid license but I would drop eM in a blink of an eye and use another client if it was not for the lack of options.
Ironically, it is so hard to find a decent email client these days when emailing is so common.
Over the last three years, I was tempted to write my own client a hundred times but I don’t have the time …and I know that writing an email app is not an issue task.
But, what frustrates me is that you do not acknowledge that there is a problem with eM when people here are reporting the same thing again and again.
I haven’t had new problems logging in directly. And my other client changed to OASDI2 without a hitch.
Your problem may (or may not) be related to Microsoft requiring OASDI2 shortly.
By the way, hotmail always connects to outlook, even using the hotmail icon.
