All of a sudden, emails I write are appearing as sent, but they are not being received by the recipient. Equally, incoming personal emails - from friends and family - are suddenly being deposited in my junk folder. Can someone please advise as to what has happened and how I can remedy both of these issues?
All of a sudden, emails I write are appearing as sent, but they are not being received by the recipient.
If recipients are not receiving your emails, could be the mail server at the receiving end “is marking them as possible spam”. So have them check their Junkmail / Spam folder incase it’s gone in there.
Also to test your end, if you have another free email address of your own like Gmail, Hotmail, yahoo etc, send an email to that and see if you can view it online in webmail.
If your sent email is also not going to a personal free email address but is showing ok sent in eM Client sent box and not bouncing back then I would “contact your sending server mailbox technical support” to see if they are currently experiencing any sending issues on the server.
If your sending mail server is not experiencing any technical issues, then could be a problem with your account in eM Client. So i would next go to “Menu / Accounts” and remove and re-add your account and see if that fixes it. If you have a IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud account all your messages etc will come back from the server once re-added.
If you have a POP account or Messages in Local Folders before removing and readding your account, go to “Menu / File / Export” and export any emails, contacts, tasks etc to a folder on your Desktop or Documents so you can then import them later via "Menu / File / Import”.

Could be you have either inadvertently “added a Local or Server rule” to automatically move those senders emails to the Junkmail folder,
Or you might have "inadvertently added those senders email address’s or senders domains to the blacklist” and so is also automatically going to the junkmail folder,
Or “your mail server is automatically moving those senders email to the Junkmail folder” due to your mail server spam engine detecting something in the header, subject or body of the senders emails.
So first go to “Menu / Rules” (Pc) or “Menu / Tools / Rules” (Mac) and “dblclick on any custom rules” if there is any there to view them apart from the basic spam rule at the top. If you have alot of Local custom rules in there, suggest to uncheck them all to test if it’s a rule causing it.
You can also “click the drop-down on the right of Local rules at the top” where if your server is supported you will see any server rules setup.

If you have eM Client V9 “you can also view & double-click the Blacklist in Rules” to see if there is any senders email address’s or senders domains added.
If you have eM Client V10, go to “Menu / Settings / Mail / Blacklist & Whitelist” and click “Manage Blacklist" at the bottom to see if you have added any senders to the blacklist.

Now if there is no eM Client Local rules setup and no Blacklist setup to automatically move those senders email to the junkmail folder, then it will be either your mailbox on the server end automatically moving them either “due to your mail server spam engine” detecting something in the header, subject or body, Or it will be a “server mailbox rule or filter” automatically moving them.
So you would next “go into your mailbox online junkmail folder” and “mark those emails as not spam / not junk”. That will then normally automatically move those emails back to your online inbox and also “teach your online mailbox to keep them in the inbox for future”.
If emails are still going into your Junkmail folder, then “dblcheck your online mailbox server filters” just incase there has been one setup in there. If you don’t know where your server mailbox online filters / rules are, contact your online mailbox technical support for assistance.
Lastly if you still have the same issue and you have a current active paid Pro, Personal or Business version, you can go to the VIP Support page and login and lodge a ticket for further assistance. If you have run out of your 12 months support, you can get another year support extension via the following link VIP Support Extension | eM Client
Thanks for the comprehensive reply. I’ll give these suggestions a go.
