I uninstalled a registered version several months ago. Today, I downloaded current release and, when attempting to install, I received the message that the prior version could not be uninstalled. But, it has been uninstalled and I can find no reference in registry to either emclient or to em client. Any advice on how to proceed will be welcome. Thank you. I am using windows 11.
Also, the original setup doesn’t work either, but shows a window to browse for the setup, even specifying the name of the setup, and it still does not work.
This location is for the database and would delete the data - it should not affect the installation and removing it would delete any local data, so please do not delete that folder unless you have a recent backup.
I’d recommend checking the Program files instead for the leftover folder C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client
Or using the Microsoft Install/Uninstall Troubleshooter - https://aka.ms/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
(it might show a warning that this tool is too old for Win 11 but in my experience it is still able to repair the registry just fine)
Thank you both for your responses, but no luck. I have removed all files named emclient or em client, plus removed all registry entries. In the interim, I will look elsewhere. Again, thanks for the prompt replies.
In view of the fact that you believe, and no doubt, have removed everything eMC
it might be worthwhile checking your OS, to do this:
Open Command Prompt in Admin mode: (NOT Powershell)
Copy & Paste and run:
DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
then when the above has finished:
Copy & Paste and run:
sfc /scannow
Reboot your system when both are complete.
They are both Microsoft utilities that can check/repair your system.
Missing or corrupt files will be replaced - could be the reason eMC won’t email. You must be connected to the internet when carrying out these procedures.

Thank you for your suggestions. But still the same results. I did get a response from emClient support, and I am hopeful they can fix this. Until then I will use other resources. I do sincerely appreciate the community response to my request. Thank you.
The only other thing that you could try is to install in Safe Mode,
however, you will need to edit the Windows Registry before you
can attempt this and there is no guarantee it will work.
We can give instructions for this or provide a .reg file to carry
out the Registry change. All at your own risk.
Any Registry change can of course be reversed.
It is something that we have done for client companies if there
are installation issues with MSI files.

I do appreciate your offer, but it seems a bit risky. I gave info to official support and am hoping there is an official solution forthcoming. Thank you for your suggestions. Very kind of you.

Just an update. I managed to restore a backup of 10.4.4867 and it works fine, but the upgrade latest release failed with same message that old version was still there. but 4867 was the old version. Anyway, using some unorthodox techniques, I managed to extract the components of the latest msi file and copy them to folder. So, I am now up to date with 10.4.5647. If there is another update, my guess is it will fail. But I’m good for now.
