Office 365 Authentication Error

I’ve seen a number of posts on this issue but none of the solutions have worked for me.  I’m trying to set up an Exchange 365 account on eM Client and keep getting authentication errors.  As with Sebastian Meier zu Biesen:

a) Username and Password ARE correct
b) I have tried adding it as an exchange account instead of Auto-Discovery
c) This works in Outlook as expected with the same credentials

I do have a SBS2008 server but the domain is completely separate.  Nonetheless, I tried bypassing the local DNS server and going directly to the google dns servers.  That made no difference.  When I set up Exchange 365 accounts on an iphones or ipads, I have to specify the server as outlook.office365.com but there is no option in eM client for me to enter the server name. 

Any suggestions?

do you have problem with this during the initial setup or is the account set up correctly and then prompts you for the password?

The problem occurs during initial setup.

I have the same issue with V7. The parameters work fine when using outlook mail client but when trying to replace this client with eM, no authentication works. Credentials are exactly the same. This issue will affect all V7 users on office 365 servers  as they trial it so we need an early result or we will revert to a working email client.

could you please try running Microsofts’ Exhcnage connectivity test to see if your server is set up correctly?

I"m hoping that someone has figured out this issue - crazy waste of time!

Error message is -'Server says “[AUTHENTICATIONFAILED] Authentication failed.” ,

Anyone have any ideas?

My user name AND password are correct.

Was able to get my Office 365 from GoDaddy account to work with the steps in this thread:

Depending on where you got your email from this may still work since it’s changing the exchange server to outlook.office365.com
