Not able to send Hotmail emails

I used to be able to receive and send emails from my Hotmail account in emClient.
Suddenly, I can only receive.
If I send they get stuck in the Outbox of the “Local Folders”

I saw the thread on Kayako “Posted by Olivia Rust on 03 February 2023 12:30” and ran those steps, but it did not help.

Running emClient Version: 10.1.4828 (9843340)
on Macbook Air M2 with Sequoia V15.3.1

Could it be an SMTP authentication issue or maybe a blocked port?

Have you tried reconfiguring the SMTP settings or checking if your Hotmail account requires an app password?

I tried this but to no avail.

Finally, I set up the hotmail email account again as a new account using the “+ account” in the “Accounts” menu option.
— and with this, as long as I choose the newly added hotmail account, I can send and receive emails.

When I compare the settings in the “General” tab of the “Accounts” settings for the original hotmail account and newly added account:

  • original hotmail account: “IMAP” checkbox ticked but greyed out, “SMTP” checkbox ticked but greyed out, “Airsync” checkbox ticked
  • newly added hotmail account:", “IMAP”, “SMTP” & “Airsync” checkboxes ticked

And for reference:

IMAP settings:
Host: imap-mail.outlook.com
Port: 993
Security Policy: Use SSL/TLS on special port (legacy)

SMTP settings:
Host: smtp-mail.outlook.com
Port: 587
Security Policy: Force usage of SSL/TLS

The SMTP tab Settings are not currently used when AirSync is enabled.

I would remove the old original Hotmail account to avoid any sending problems.
