I am getting the following error when I try to install this on a Windows 11 25H2 machine. In case it matters, I’m on a Razer Blade 16 (2024) i9-14900HX, 64gb ram, GeForce RTX 4090.
“There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A program run as part of the setup did not finish as expected. Contact your support personnel or package vendor.”
This is a clean install of Win 11, fully updated. I have downloaded the installer a few times, in case it was corrupted. I have checked the hardware and all passes every test. I have tried shutting down antivirus, running as administrator, clearing out update files.
The only things that I can think of is, I am installing on a local account. Does it need to be connected to Microsoft? Or it just doesn’t play well with Windows.
I am continuing to post this question as the similar topics on this forum were never answered. Hopefully there will be new wisdom out there?

Sometimes eg: cpus or gpus overclocked can cause issues installing & running eM Client.
So if either is overclocked “try setting back to default” and see if that makes any difference.
If your cpu and gpu are not overclocked then I would recommend “uninstalling eM Client and “delete the database” when asked on the uninstall wizard.
Then “if still exists after uninstall”, delete C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client folder and delete the following hidden database folder “Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\eM Client”
Then try running the Microsoft Installer / uninstaller troubleshooter which can sometimes fix issues with Windows registry and installing issues etc. Also reboot after running the troubleshooter and then try reinstalling eM Client again & see if that fixes it.
Note: Make a backup of your Windows registry first before running the troubleshooter incase you need to restore your registry for any reason. See the Microsoft link Win 11 on how to do that.
Apart from that if you downloaded eM Client directly from the eM Client webpage try going to the release history page and redownload “the same or later version” and try installing again just incase your original download file was corrupted in some way.
The latest version 9 & 10 install fine for me personally on Win 11 25H2 on a clean install.

No doesn’t need to have a Microsoft login and only “that you are logged in with an administrator login” if using a local login so you have full install access.
Thank you for the assistance. I did try all of your suggestions but nothing worked. the troubleshooter found nothing wrong. And I tried a newer version, which did allow it to install, but it won’t open. It just brings up the initial opening screen and then it closes. I did uninstall Onedrive, and don’t know if it would be looking for that? (I’m trying to give MS as little of my data as possible.)
Suggest then if you have a current paid active Pro, Personal or Business version go to the VIP Support page and login and lodge a support ticket.
If you have only just installed eM Client in your trial period “and have never used it before”, then suggest to email [email protected] for initial trial setup assistance as per the support page.

No Onedrive doesn’t interfere with eM Client installing or opening.
Programs that can sometimes interfere are eg: optionally installed firewall / security programs, or optionally installed antivirus programs or vpns etc. So if you have anything like that installed "other than the default Win 11 os stuff, try completely disabling those to test incase of interference.
Thank you. I have started a ticket with support. and I hope it will work through a vpn. if it won’t then it won’t matter because I can’t use it. Unless you just meant for the initial set up. But either way, I really appreciate you taking the time.
