No notification about a new version release

Greetings to everyone!

I don’t know if I’m writing in the right place?

I have a pro license. However, the Hungarian-language eM Client application running under Windows does not notify about the release of a new version. A pop-up window appearing at the Check Updates menu item indicates that there are no updates available.

emclient_no_update

However, if I visit the Release History website, the latest version is displayed, which I can only install manually in this way.

Release History

In this case, I was only able to update from version 9.2.2038.0 to version 9.2.2054.0.

However, there was no Hungarian language package in it, so the Hungarian language package had to be added manually to the appropriate folder of the application (I maintain the Hungarian translations with the help of Juraj Micek).

What can be the solution regarding the missing update notification? Also, I recommend replacing the Hungarian language package.

Thanks and regards,

Zoltán

If the Hungarian language is not offered as an option, please try the following:

  1. Close and uninstall eM Client, making sure NOT to delete the database folder when asked. That will ensure all your data and settings are there later.

  2. If it exists, delete the C:\Program Files (x86)\eM Client folder.

  3. Download and install the latest version from here: https://www.emclient.com/dist/latest/setup.msi

  4. Restart eM Client.

Not all releases are available immediately through check for update, though they might be in the Release History.

Hi Gary!

Thanks for the reply. If I successfully install the latest version, it works fine, I always generate the DLL files during translation maintenance and put them in the hu folder, as well as restarting the default version, it reverted to the Hungarian language after the restart.

However, the question remains? Why can’t the Updater query the versions displayed on the Release History page? It didn’t detect version 9.2.2038.0 either, if I don’t update I’d still be using the version 9.2.1735.0 that I installed first. In other words, two versions were released in 4.5 months, but the Updater did not detect either of them.

Regards,

Zoltán

Thanks for the response. Ok, I understand that. But if someone sees that there is a newer version (not alpha, not beta, not RC, etc.), then they can rightly think that this part of the application does not work or does not work properly.

No, that is incorrect. All versions listed in the Release History work properly.

OK. Now I will directly monitor when version 9.2.2054.0 will indicate that there is a new version.

Unfortunately, there was no notification about the release of the latest version (9.2.2093.0). If I don’t check this site from time to time, I’m missing out. as a result, the Hungarian language is not included, but I was able to successfully copy the dll files of the previous translations. This is how I can use it in Hungarian.

Maybe the notification section is not working properly?

As I said, not all releases are available immediately through check for update, though they might be in the Release History.

And I already gave you instructions about what to do if the language is missing. See above.
