No new emails / ios

It happens again and again that, although new
emails are available, these are not retrieved or displayed if emclient is active in the background,
i.e. emails are not retrieved/displayed,
only when the app is started.

there are also no logs

i only have IMAP accounts.

iPhone 14Pro Max, ios 18.2.1

emclient 10.2.1465

if emclient is active in the background,
i.e. emails are not retrieved/displayed,
only when the app is started.

I am receiving emails ok when the app is running in the background using the latest mobile iOS phone app V10.2.1465 with OS 18.3

Make sure you have “Push Mail” turned on in your IMAP account setup in the mobile app.

If it’s already on, then “try turning it off and then back on” and close and reopen the app, and then leave it running in the background.

If that still doesn’t receive without you opening it, try reboot your iPhone.

Failing that, if you have any eg: optionally installed iOS antivirus programs / firewall security programs or VPNs try completely disabling those to test.

have now updated to ios 18.3.1,
Background refresh, push, etc.,
everything is active,

emclient is up to date,
I don’t have a virus scanner,
otherwise everything was done without success…

but I still have the same problem.

Apple Mail shows that there are new emails,
emClient does not every now and then…

I suspect then that will be some eg: iOS type system issue “like the iOS badge counts” that sometimes doesn’t always update but other times does due to whatever’s going on with the iOS System as @paf advised in this thread.

I did another test to my iPad this morning with eM Client and the email was there instantly and the badge updated ok, but the second time I tested it took a few seconds to show the email in the client and the badge didn’t update. The third time i tested the badge updated around 10 secs later. So just all seems to depend on what’s going on in the iOS System.

The way eM Client mobile app works with Push Mail is that, when you get an email on your server mailbox end, you get a notification banner, badge appear, and then when you press on those notifications, they load the mobile app and retrieve the email “which with the new app is now (very fast) compared to the older iOS app”.

So when you open the mobile app (not using the notification) “it also works the same way” and the new email should appear pretty quick. For myself the emails usually appear nearly instantaneous or at least within a few seconds using my 50mbps Wifi home connection.

So if when you open the mobile app you also see new mails within a few seconds then there is nothing wrong as per how it’s designed to work.

Yes, that’s what I actually meant,
so that it is not always indicated by badge counts
that there are new emails.

When emclient is started, new emails are
of course, new emails are collected.

But as I said, new emails are not always displayed or notified.
