When I try an Send To an e-mail recipient in Windows 10 Photo Viewer, I get this message. The default app in Windows Settings is properly set as EMClient. However, in EMClient’s General Settings, it says it’s not the default mail program. Clicking the “Make Default” button just directs you to the Windows Settings Default Apps. Anyone else suffered from this quirk?
Hi Andy,
sorry for the late reply. Please check if you have .NET 2.0 and 3.0 frameworks enabled, they must be installed in order for emClient to properly work as default program.
There has been also a known error with some Outlook registry in Win 10 that blocked this feature, but try the Framework solution first.

Olivia
Thanks for the reply, Olivia (which happens to be the name of one of our grand daughters too…) .Net framework 3.5 was already enabled, but I also enabled the optional ‘Windows Foundation Communications…’ subsets for luck. Still the same, I’m afraid. I’d be grateful for a speedy reply as I tend to email a few piccies and it’s a nuisance to have to separately compress them. With thanks and regards, Andy
Hi Andy,
I went through the Microsoft forum, looking for an official fix to this, but seems like their support is mostly silent to this problem with Windows 10 (though it seems to be a common one, with the OS not respecting any mail client as a default one).
Try to see if you have the bugged Outlook registry key (even from an old installation or something) and delete it using these instructions - http://www.thewindowsclub.com/there-i…
Restart your computer and check if eM Client is still set as default (if it’s not, then set it as default now) and see if the issue persists.

Olivia
Thanks for all your quick efforts, Olivia. Tried doing that (in W10 you have to use Regedit rather than Regedit32). There was no Outlook key, but there were 3 for EMClient, Hotmail & Windows Live Mail. Deleted the latter 2, rebooted, checked the Default App in Settings, but still the same message. Sounds like it’s going to be a tough one to sort… Regards, Andy

Just sent off the e-mail, thanks. Andy
Good afternoon Olivia (evening where you are perhaps?),
I’ve managed to sort it out, I think.
I used the W10 Settings ‘simple’ approach to selecting Emc as the default mail program, but to no effect whether I rebooted or not. Today selected ‘Set defaults by app’ at the bottom of the default apps page which redirects to control panel/programs/default programs/set default programs (as per the attached screen shot). Clicking ‘set this program as default’ from this location immediately effected the desired result.
So it’s the W10 ‘simple’ settings page that isn’t working properly.
I’ll copy this to the forum so it’s available to anyone else who’s had the same issue.
With kind regards,
Andy
Thank you for sharing the solution to your problem with us, Andy.
