New Mail Dropdown List for Choosing "From" Account?

I have eM Client Pro v. 6.0.26162.0 on my desktop PC, managing two Gmail accounts.  When I click “New” to compose a new message, the default account address is automatically displayed in the “From” area.  But there’s a drop down menu in the “From” area that allows me to select the address of the other account, so that my email will presumably be sent via that account and appear to recipients as having come from that second account.

On my laptop, I have a free, registered version of eM Client, same v. 6, managing the same two accounts. When I click “New” to compose a new message, only the default email address appears in the drop down “From” menu.   My only option seems to be to send the mail from the default account.

Is this a limitation of the free client, or am I doing something wrong?  I need to be able to select which account I’m sending email from.

Thanks!

OK, I just answered my own question.  I discovered that the SMTP service in the account settings of my second (non-default) account was disabled.  When I checked “Enable Service” in the SMTP tab of that account, it was restored to the “From” drop down menu.  Simple!

Hello,
glad to hear the issue has been resolved
For the account to be in the From drop down menu it does need to have a working Outgoing server set/enabled.

My situation is similar, but not exactly the same. I have two email accounts, one at outlook.com and the other at gmail.com. I use the gmail.com account for a wide variety of web sites that send a lot of emails (usually of some interest) while my outlook.com account is email more “transactional” and important to my daily activity.

I want ONLY the outlook.com emails to be read into my eM Client application, but frequently I may click on an email address on a web page that fires off a NEW email in eM Client that I want to be sent from my gmail account. Actually, I don’t care if gmail.com sends it or outlook.com sends it, but I want the recipient to see it as from my gmail account.

Perhaps a online email service won’t send an email with a FROM address that is not its own? That wouldn’t surprise me…

SO, maybe my question should be: Can I set up an eM Client account connected to gmail.com that only uses that service to send but does not download  all (any) of my gmail to my laptop?!?

Hello Jim,

In the new mail window, you can always choose which account sends the email (scrollbar when you click on the email address). If you wish to set only a “sending” account, you can go to Menu > Tools > Accounts > Add account > Mail > More you can add an account and fill in only SMTP address.

In an existing account, if you go to Menu > Tools > Accounts > General > Services you can unmark all the services you don’t want to use and leave only SMTP marked which serves for sending emails.

I hope this answered your question.

Russel
