I just set up my client’s email using using automatic setup connecting to his Bluehost email account. I imported all is emails and folders emclient with no problem and they uploaded to the server, however my issue is with contacts. It seems I can only import the contacts into a local folder and not his email account. Bluehost tells me even if I upload the contacts onto the server using their webmail program it will not show on emclinent or any other email client program. I want the contacts to show on all his devices so they sync also. Is there any possibly way to move the contacts out of the local folder into his email account?

If this is an eg: IMAP, Exchange, Office 365 or iCloud mail account, then go to eM Client local contacts and select all the local contacts and copy them. Then click on the Bluehost account contacts above that one eM Client, and paste them in there. eM Client will then sync those contacts to the same Bluehost online account. All the other computer & Mobile devices will then get those same contacts if they are configured the same way.
Note: Once the contacts are then in the Online Bluehost contacts & all the other devices, then delete them out of eM Client local contacts if you wish. Best to leave them there initially till you are confident they are on the server 100%.

Its normally only if you have a POP account that the contacts have to be manually put on each device separately & won’t sync from the server.
Thank you so much for your reply cyberzork. This is IMAP however the only contacts folder is in local folders, there is no contacts folder in my client’s Bluehost email. When I originally imported his contacts into emclient it only gave me the Local Folders option. I found this very strange because I use emclient connecting to exchange and I have contacts folders in both local and my email account.
This is IMAP however the only contacts folder is in local folders.
Normally if you use the automatic email wizard in eM Client for setting up an IMAP account, you will get the server IMAP account contacts automatically appear above the Local contacts in eM Client, unless this specific server doesn’t support that or needs some special setup to do that manually like a eg: CardDAV type account.
So if you have already tried adding the Bluehost account via the automatic email wizard and no IMAP Acct contacts appear other than local contacts, then ask Bluehost if they support CardDAV and if they do, ask what the CardDAV url address would be to manually add in a mail client to access the online web-based contacts.
If they do then support CardDAV, then go in eM Client to “Menu / Accounts” and click “Add account” and click “Contacts” at the bottom and select “CardDAV”. Then follow the wizard.
