My reply settings changed recently, but I didn't set it

I noticed a change in the Reply behavior in the last couple of days. I have two accounts set up in eM Client, and one of them (I’ll call “B”) has been forwarding to the other one (I’ll call “A”) for a long time.

Until very recently, if I replied to an email sent to B while I am working in the A inbox, the message will by default come from the B account. Now, in the last few days, it automatically comes from the A account. Has there been an update that might have caused this? I can’t remember if I updated recently.

If so, how can I change this setting back to how it was?

What about if you reply to that sender in “All Inboxes” and not directly in that account Inbox ?.

As doing that works for me correctly using the latest eM Client V10.4.4209 for PC & Mac.

See this thread post below from @Olivia_Rust which should explain the problem you are having.

Thank you. I am glad to know that this was a change to the feature (not that I like it, but at least it is not a glitch on my end).

I did not previously use the “All Inboxes” feature, but I have turned it on, and I see that if I reply to the original post sent to that email account, it will work (just as it would if I were replying from within that account’s inbox), but if I reply to the forwarded message, it still uses the account to which the message was forwarded (the same as the problem I have currently when I’m in that account’s inbox).

It looks like I will have to change my practices and turn off email forwarding and work entirely from the “All Inboxes” view because, as it stands, I see two copies of many messages (the original and the forwarded copy). The problem with that is that I file emails into Gmail labels/eM Client folders that are all in the account that receives the forwarded messages. As I understand it, I shouldn’t be able to move/label a message from one account into another account’s folder. Or is there some magic in the eM Client software that allows this?

Yes thats what I’ve always done personally for years even with other mail clients.

If you are referring to single or multiple Gmail accounts, yes you can change or re-assign a message from one account folder / label to another account folder / label, by clicking “Tags” and then just “change / select the new Gmail account Tag Folder / Label you want. Then remove the previous folder / label Tag. I find that faster than using the Move to folder option.

Or alternatively just either “drag the message” from your first Gmail account folder / label to your second account label / folder or use the “Move to folder” option like with Non Gmail accounts.
